Hopkins, although brilliantly, beat a smaller one dimensional fighter who had just got caught with illegal hand wraps and depended solely on his power.

JCC was on top of the world that night.

Ok, how about this? Chavez was a great combination puncher in the Rosario fight unlike Hopkins in the Tito fight. I remember Hopkins throwing a punch here and there and then he would grab Tito and hit him on the thighs when the ref wasn't looking.

Hopkins' ability to control distance and pace in a fight, his ring smarts, to me ranks among the best in history. That's a beautiful thing for me to watch, and I feel the systematic destroyer that Hopkins was in his prime outranks Chavez at his peak.

More relevant to boxing this time, but I think you are severely underrating the quality of Hopkins's boxing performance because you dislike his mentality/attitude.

Hopkins had fought the better guys and won. Chavez fought a lot of guys who were good but not great, and when he fought better guys he lost.. But he was great. Hopkins seemed to turn it up a notch if the guy was better.

    Hopkins was slightly better IMO.
