Wow!! I think you should calm down there chum, this thread isn't part of a global conspiracy, I felt it would be a pretty interesting debate that's all (as already proven by some really good posts), considering Taylor's speed gave Chavez all kinds of problems at 140, and Pacquiao has great speed too. I actually think Chavez would win, but I still think it would be a great fight and it is an interesting proposition.

A lot of people here are comparing taylor's speed with manny's but the point is this, look at the state taylor ended up in at the end of the 12th, smashed up & thats what will happen to manny, usual Chavez slow brutal methodical hammering dished out here & manny is wrecked around the 6th, the Chavez body shots alone will do it. No escape:smoke

Manny would take an early lead over Chavez, and give Chavez problems with his speed but Chavez would eventually get back in this by the 8th or 9th dropping Manny. Hed punish Manny for another 3rounds before stopping him in the 12th round with Chavez only slightly ahead, but Physically Manny would be the more beaten up fighter.

Chavez is too accurate & tough for Manny, he`d break him down thru the middle rds for an 11 rd TKO.

Anyone that voted Pac by KO needs help.... & fast.

Salvador Sanchez is the blueprint of a guy to beat Pac.

Pac could nail Chavez with some left hands IMO and its tough to say how he would react to relentless controlled pressure the likes of which chavez would apply.

Can this thread be bumped after november 14th? Then we will know the answers to these questions.

Chavez by late TKO. Anybody who says Manny wins is a teeny bopper.

Not sure if the result of the Cotto fight changes my mind here. It doesn't in fact, although Pacquiao is worthy of these matchups to a far greater extent than he ever was previously. But Chavez wouldn't hit him once and then proceed to wait, nor would he be as flustered as Cotto was by Manny's combination hitting. He'd be hitting him to body and head with the same surgical accuracy as what Marquez did. Only he'd be doing it harder without taking as much return fire.

It's a long way from being one-sided though. A long way - any other notion is a disservice to Pacquiao IMO. And I'm less confident that Chavez would stop him than I once was.

I would favour Chavez in this bout he is more proven at the weight and would give Pacman no space. Julio would keep the fight close at all time and grind him down plus he has the better defence. Chavez via UD.

I consider Chavez the top 5 p4p all-time, maybe even the greatest; depending on the day. And definitely better than Duran, but not by much. Once an ATG it's like splitting hairs. Having said that I believe Pac is within Chavez's range, a win over Mayweather and a few other top fighters between 140-147 would be icing on the cake. In a 12 rounder Pac could possible go the distance and win enough early rounds to win a decision. 15 rounds and Pac gets stopped for sure!

Pac definitely an ATG and can be compared to all the greats!

Pacman would make Chavez look silly a time or two, but in the end Chavez would wear him down and stop him. The end would come sooner than it did against Taylor.

prime Chavez was almost surreal, I see pacman winning maybe the first two rounds and then Chavez starts to find him and wins by late tko
