JCC was one of the best combination/body punchers I've ever seen. Hell of an all around fighter.

Julio Cesar Chavez ranks alongside Joe Louis, Floyd Patterson, Roberto Duran, and Sugar Ray Robinson as one of the outstanding combination punchers that have ever lived. His ability to mix his offense to body and head was often seamless, and you could hear the impact of every punch from press row.

    Sure is brother.

I've got Shane's back on May 1st. :good

EDIT: Patterson was a wonderful combination puncher, it was never more evident than in this particular sequence here.

DLH fought nearly everyone there was to fight other than winky. He didnt always win but fought everyone. I tend to think people rank him accurately. What is your beef with DLH?

In all honesty, the people who put stock in the notion that Chavez was loading his gloves are the same people who claim he didn't have snap in his punches, which is to say they've never seen a Chavez bout in their life.

That's incredible. Every shot is thrown with the intent of hitting a particular spot - nothing wasted. Add the speed to that too.

Do you know why he didn't stay at the weight and opted to fight as a HW against monsters like Liston? Money?

No idea, JMP. I'm no expert on Patterson, I just cite his formidable ability to put devastating combination's together, head and body. If I was to hazard a guess it's probably because the Heavyweight division wasn't particularly stacked with talent at that time, and that was the glamor division, where all the money was at. I'm not sure though, perhaps taking it up with one of the more educated posters would be of benefit.

I've settled on this one now, chief.

...Of course I have an obsession with Ryder, is that not common knowledge at this juncture? Damn proud of it too, it indicates I have impeccable taste and that I am not a homosexual.
