I part ranks with my Mexican brethren in thinking Chavez ONE of the best mexican boxers, but not the best. He is among the top 5 for sure. I have him under Sanchez as one and DLH as two. But a great one he is for sure, no doubt about it. I only think he's overrated in that he is put above Sanchez. You can put him above DLH and I don't care but really can't see him placed above Sanchez at all. Now though we have Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera and the younger fans might have a problem seeing Chavez placed above them. Its all subjective. Yesterdays champs are forgotten by later generations. Tito Trinidad is shown a lot of disrespect nowadays but to those who saw him in his prime he was an unstoppable force. How do you relate that feeling when people just go to boxrec and size people up by wins and losses?:huh

In the end every generation will reinterpret past fighters do to their own reality and values. Chavez was once seen as unstoppable but on paper he doesn't hold up as well. C'est la vie.
