Please someone explain to me how someone can go from apporximately 158lbs to 185lbs+ in less than 24 hours with little physiological consequence without the use of a diuretic?

I don't want to be the guy that goes around pointing fingers but i can't get my head around it. Either he doesn't use them and he's a super human (hats off to him) or he does use them (and deserves no credit for his success)

This does not surprise me. He is huge for a middle weight. Miranda was very similar to this and he used to fight in the mid 180's for his MW fights. 15lbs of that weight is rehydration. After a few meals 185lbs is very realistic.

However, if I were his trainer, I would have rather him have fought in the mid to high 170's.

I dont get why he didnt want to step onto the scales on the day of the fight.
I would definitely believe he was a cruiser in there, he looked really big.

Source for him weighing 185lbs vs Martinez?

Cutting weight always catches up with you in the end, if affects stamina & punch resistance

I get that eating a few big meals will put the lbs back on after dropping weight. But a regular large meal is less than 2lbs! even if he ate 5 and put on 10lbs the equivilant of 5l in fluid!! Its still not realistic as thats 20 unrealistic lbs

If he goes up in weight he's in big trouble. Top 5 in every division up to cruiser will take him apart with probable KO's

15 pounds difference from weight in to Fight night is already huge but if he really took 35 lbs there something wrong there!

Thats why i am saying approximately! HE WAS A GIANT! As big as hes ever been and its not unusual for him to weigh in 182-185 on fight night.

No one ever put on more than 22 Pounds after the weigh-in, at least in the recorded cases.

Any source for this? 30lbs is an absurd amount overnight.

Agree! he would have lost his title with the 10% rule after weigh in. That means he could only legally weigh 176! He was at least 185. I wouldn't be surprised if he was 190+

maybe the schooling Sergio gave him will encourage him to move up in weight

No. No source as he refused to weigh in on fight night. The WBC requires him to be no more than 176lbs on fight night or relinquish his belt and take a financial penalty. This is all just speculation because i dont think people are asking the right questions after the fight

    I don't think it's even possible.
