:good Great memories from a great era, it was great being in the 80's, every saturday afternoon on ITV we'd get the lastest fights from the states, i remenber this like it was yesterday, another shocker indeed:yep

    Gotto love Col Bob Sherridan:lol:

That enthusiasism/excited bias call it what yer will but thats the sort of commentary we need instead of todays wooden puppets:smoke

I know, sometimes I forget just how good it was back then. :good
Nowadays you have to buy Sky Sports package, or PPV, for less quantity and far less quality when it comes to boxing.
I hate to be a "it was better when I was young" type .... but it was !

I'm in the minority on this, but thought it was a mismatch from the moment it was signed.

I never bought into Rosario all that much to begin with and that elbows out style of his was made to order for a precision body puncher like Chavez. I didn't think he had the footwork to do much against Chavez either and about all he did was get backed into corners. Chavez just didn't have the warts a guy like Rosario needed to exploit and I thought it was pretty much free money, along the lines of the Klitschko/Haye bout.

    Fair enough.
    Stylistically, you call it right.

But I think Rosario was as proven as Chavez at the time, and more so against 135 pounders at least. He was the number 1 lightweight (*Camacho was AWOL, or moved up, on coke, or something, and didn't want to fight Rosario again anyway), and Chavez was moving up to challenge.
    Rosario was of worthy pedigree.

If you watch this broadcast, Merchant calls out the be-sequined Macho, who is sitting ringside to cheer on homeboy Rosario, wondering aloud whether Hector has retired...
