He was given everything a boxer needs to become an ATG, decent chin, stature at 130, Jose Sulaiman & JCC sr in his corner, JCC sr did the right thing. Now JCC jr. can retire or "fill into" a Heavyweight journeyman :think

I assure you I have neither of those disorders - just a bit of a late developer. I was 5'8" when I was 17 yo, currently a fairly normally proportioned 6'3" (on the lanky side).

Not that I am the issue here, but there are an awful lot of exceptions to "the norm" - it's a big world - and who's to say boxers aren't some of them. There are quite a few footballers who were rejected by club academies for being too small, and then put on a late growth spurt and became larger than average.

He was an amateur 175 (Making weight)
He was 14-0-0-0 & still a defacto Light Heavyweight in modern standards (hydrating to 192~196)

Later in his career he turned into jello, but he had an Iron chin/great jab/excellent footwork/adequate range for his era.

Lack of discipline & resolve is the only excuse to give up your best weight class :nono

You are claiming a 7" growth in stature after 17, so skepticism is always the first response.

Any growth in Stature (Gigantism, HGH or Exceptions) is always a welcome development. The garbage weight is when 17yo with excellent bone/muscle to heart weight ratio, starts adding garbage weight that:

#1 Reduces his range in the new division
#2 Reduces his performance as his heart is still the same size (except if he uses strictly uses HGH on a low calorie diet to avoid extra disproportionate gains, which will still increase the size of other organs that are sensitive to changes in size & might cause unknown side effects)

The best way is to just stay at the Natural prime weight class (Moving up = End of Physical Prime), with the exception of Heavyweight where its recommended to make use of HGH because the advantages of adding mass exceeds the disadvantages (you will not be forced to move into another division, so nothing to lose, you might as well Hulk up Anthony Joshua style :smoke )

Roy Jones Jr 16-0-0-0 (KO 16)
    #1 Junior Middleweight contender

No, that's not what was said.. so many facking clowns chop up videos to make any dumb ass point. All sr was saying was IF jr cannot keep his conditioning and drive he should just retire.

He's made enough money already. . He did NOT claim jr wasn't training right atm, the past wasn't always jr training hard and now that he's bigger and fighting better guys he Could get hurt where he wasn't worried before.

He's worried jr is going to end up facing ggg soon and he could really hurt jr where his level of live will get drastically reduced from head trauma

Chavez's career is winding down, he doesnt seem like hes really a force anymore

Reminds me of when Gatti couldnt make 140 but couldnt really compete at 147

Cheavez jr earned my respect in that 12th round, everyone had him out before the fight said he was a fraud and for 11 rounds he was way behind but for a talentless pothead with no motivation he nearly pulled off the Chavez vs Taylor moment and earned more respect in 3 minutes than Canelo did not punching vs Mayweather for 12 rounds

I always felt Chavez did get some help but in the end if he were a total fraud he would not have beaten Molina, Lee, Manfredo, Rubio, Vera and Zbik

Say what you want about him but outside of Zbik, when he had a controversial win he fought a rematch to do better like when he fought Molina and Vera. Most guys get exposed in victory and avoid the fight

All things considered I felt that Jr fought tougher opponents to his title than senior did as well or at least comparable

Chavez Jr. fought a complete survival fight against Sergio Martinez.
For 11+rounds he did virtually zero.
Be real, Jr. was afraid to let his hands go because it meant he would get creamed on the counter.
He got a lucky punch in and put Martinez in a dilemma, but I have little respect for a fighter that does nothing for just about the whole fight. His effort was **** poor.

Huge difference between Gatti's dilemma and Jr.

Gatti actually trained his ass off in every weight class he ever fought in.
If Jr. had half the discipline of Arturo Gatti, he'd be at a much higher level than Gatti ever was.

    ......but he just doesn't.

You know it aint turning around for Chavez Jr. when Sr. found it within himself to have to go public and say how disappointed he's in his son for his lack of discipline.

Chavez Jr. left his training camp in Big Bear, where the hell did he go?

To do that after his loss and mediocre effort against Fonfara, I can only assume Jr. has an alcohol or drug related problem.

Just a couple of weeks ago he was on the "a los golpes" program stating how 2016 will be different for him. :-(

Can you elaborate as I don't see a parallel?

Manny always had the pudgy body, but he worked religiously in his hitting stroke.
Fortunately for Ramirez, you don't have to be a physical fitness freak to be successful in hitting a baseball.

Ramirez was a natural born hitter.

He gets a lot of criticism, and maybe rightly so to some extent - but there's something impressive about him wanting to step in the ring at all considering he could have lived off his Dad's name without being a boxer anyway.
