The greatest fighter in Mexican history, Julio Cesar Chavez, was impressed as he watched his son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., win a dominating twelve round decision over John Duddy at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas......For years chavez jr. was living in his father's shadow. He broke away from that shadow with a win over Duddy.with trainer Freddy Roach by his side,Chavez jr.has put himself in position for a title shot at 154 & 160 lbs.he's the number 1 ranked contender to the vacant WBC at 154, and with the silver middleweight title that he picked up on saturday night,he's on line for a shot a the WBC title held by Sergio Martinez....... "It was a great victory for my son's career. It was a great fight. He showed that he was a warrior in the ring,I've always said that one day he will become champion."whatever path Julio decides to take (weight division) he will become world champion", Chavez sr. said!
He probably will now that Sergio's WBC 154 belt is vacant. Sulaiman will do whatever it takes to give Chavez the shot against a soft top 10 opponent for the belt. This would potentially set-up a Cotto/Chavez Jr. unification match-up.
I'm happy for both of them. Chavez was very good. Nothing like a bit of redemption. I love to see it.
Yep he'll get to fight a top 25 or maybe lower boxer for a belt. Is all about money if he wins it'll bring money to jose sulaiman and the WBC. :hat
What do people expect him to say "my son's got a padded record, he's fought more cab drivers than I did!":rofl:rofl
