BRO, this is a boxing forum, RIGHT ??? and i never tried to make scar look stupid, he does a good job on his own :good
Floyd is a more technically skilled boxer than Meldrick(who is underrated in that regard as well), but Meldrick's style would always allow him to be leading on the cards with a fighter of Chavez's caliber. The same can't be said as clearly with Floyd, who, while more skilled defensively, didn't give Chavez anything to really worry about offensively. In that I mean he couldn't throw Chavez off with his blinding combinations and workrate the way Taylor could, because in order to do that, you would have left yourself open against someone like Chavez. Taylor was willing to take the punishment to outland Chavez, winning him rounds, but ultimately costing him in the end. Floyd would fight a more defensive, pot-shotting style of fight against Chavez. While it worked against Castillo in the rematch, Floyd was not Whitaker in regards to fighting off the backfoot, and Chavez was not Castillo. And once again, the LW version of Chavez was much better than the Randall version, and better as well than the Taylor version. If you guys have not watched the Rosario fight I recommend it, he really did exemplify what a pressure fighter was supposed to be, and this was against a huge puncher. If Floyd were to have beaten Meldrick(not a given) then it would be by Decision certainly. Taylor was far more skilled than people give him credit for. He wasn't just a fast brawler, and often times popping in and out, relying on either speed or length, didn't work because Meldrick's hands were simply too fast for you to get in and out without getting hit. McGirt found that out.
If you want to take everything out of context and see it that way I'll still say no because he didn't defend his titles against a worthy opponent since his lightweight days vs Castillo (whom he ran from Oscar vs Tito during the last 2 rounds style) He was hurt vs Chop Chop and Castillo who was the Champ and agressor got robbed, Even the Ring mag put an article bout it IMa stop with you if you still feel Chavez was prime vs PEa.:-((
speed and boxing ability will beat anybody :deal :deal chavez just had the balls to go against the grain and put himself to the test.... meldrick randall sweet pea lonnie camacho etc etc all had that, but he wanted to keep proving himself.....after castillo, what effective pressure fighter did floyd fight....NOBODY 140-COTTO WAS TOO GREEN 147-MARGO HAD NO CREDS :good
That's right PBF is just that good a great H2H boxer that's what makes him so great and he proved it by going up in weight. He has few weaknesses and has yet to lose that's why. You can't say he's been hurt badly or even dropped he's tough matchup for anyone in history. Although for example I would favor Pea and Hearns to beat him everytime due to styles.
DAMN, thats a good looking'fella right there :yep :yep WOW, and even better, those gloves were signed by chavez sr and chavez jr.....
140 Cotto was too green because that's what his own promoter said and that's the stable Floyd was in, it's very clear. The Margarito case has been discussed countless times already, Margarito offers 8 million and a WBOgus belt, Baldomir offered 8million and the undisputed title. Still complicated?
Speed and boxing ability kills Gatti and David Diaz. Speed and boxing ability made Chavez work harder to get the W DURING HIS PRIME. Anyway which fighter has fought better when they fight speedy boxers?
Are you kidding me? What about being countered or beaten to the punch and then out of the way. He would fustrate the hell out of JCC with this alone. Not to mention the PBF of 130-140 let his hands go more and threw combos and had more power there as well. JCC would not simply walk thru every shot PBF threw at him hell Oscar didn't do it at 154 where PBF has little power and for damn sure and JCC wouldn't do at 135 or 140 either.
