Floyd's most well known today for his copious use of the elbow to keep opponents from unloading but check out the action when Chavez Sr fought Edwin Rosario: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TExSnT-sWSQ[/ame] I actually learnt to use the elbow from watching Chavez.
What Chavez Sr likes to do is keep the elbow on his opponent's gloves in close, which kinda hampers Rosario's punches and lets Chavez know when to duck as Rosario pulls his glove out to punch him. Very crafty stuff and I was using that trick in sparring.
Nonsense. Floyd uses his forearm to create space too. But of course you celebrate your hero, for his even dirtier tactics, as he actually used elbows, but in a smart/tactical way, but still elbows.
The **** he does! Floyd shoves that elbow right into his opponents throat whenever he feels uncomfortable or when someone is beating him inside...watch hatton or castillo fight and shut the **** up
he uses the elbow to raise his head so he can throw the right hook. if you look, he pushes rosarios body up with his forearm and hooks with his right to the exposed head. it is something he obviously works on as part of his infighting.
This was the first time I saw Chavez.Full quality card on a Saturday afternoon on terrestrial TV!!! Glorious days. My son doesn't believe me about these type of things.
Floyd doesn't use his elbow, it's the forearm muthafucca. You don't know infighting Nucca. He uses his forearm to get distance to set up a right hand, or body shot on the inside. Your examples of the hatton fight, Hatton was trying to employ his typical wrestling style fighting, and he used the forearm to get him off. There was no threat, and Mayweather is far superior to Hatton on the inside in both defense, punch selection, and angles. You ******ed ninny.
Floyd uses his forearm to create space too, but the only difference is opponents are coming at Floyd so he has to be more aggressive with it. Sometimes he'll put it out and the opponent will just throw themselves into his arm. Chavez is the one perusing his opponent, so he doesn't have to be as vicious with it to create room
Chavez does a counter Elbow, and he does his elbow far more than floyd does his forearm. Chavez was throwing that counter elbow every few seconds.
