Chavez Jr. ignores his father's logical warning and still takes on a very risky opponent. What does he get in return?, he's called a bum, joker and a loser. Yet fans have the nerve to insult other fighters for "cherry picking". Never been a fan of Jr. but I'd have to be a moron to not give him credit for taking on a beast after a year lay off and only his second fight at Light Heavyweight.

    Fonfara is a good fighter.

Boxing is the one sport where conditioning in huge. Guys like Pacquiao and Mayweather would lose to B and maybe even C level fighters if they don't come into the fight at tip top shape. Unless you're Mike Tyson and know you're going to KO the guy in a few rounds, conditioning and discipline is the biggest part of boxing.

Jr. wasn't even competitive and then he flat out quit. That's going to garner criticism.

Yeah it was a risky fight and Chavez Sr. was right to warn him. You have to give Chavez Jr some credit for taking on Fonfara after a long layoff, he didn't have to fight him.

His Father also cautioned him on not taking Top Rank's minimum 7 Million per fight deal that they offered him for Froch, GGG and others.....

He decided to buy himself out via Al Haymon and now he will never make that ever again.

I feel bad for Junior because in the end, he wanted to fight the best.

I just think he could have still fought the best but at a good weight for him 168. I think he got lazy in not wanting to get down to 168 and paid for it.

PS: Who is Al Haymons' matchmaker? They are horrible... anyone with a brain saw this fight turning out like this.

There's a difference between ducking opponents you'd naturally be expected to fight in your division(Khan-Brook, Cotto-GGG, Adonis-Kovalev etc) and going up 2 divisions in 1,5 years and fight one of the better, sized fighters of the division. It's a stupid career move, not courage, there's a difference.

I think the fight was fixed for Chavez to win anyhow, but he couldn't hold his part of the deal, and quit like a prima-dona when the going got tough.

Even Fonfara's arm punching was too much for baby Chavez.

GGG is the last fighter to be mentioned in a thread like this. The man is doing nothing but eagerly feasting on bums and he has idiots fainting in admiration.

    What?

I'm stating a fact. Boxing is a sport where you need to be at an elite level of fitness. Look at all the examples over the years of this happening.

Well.. Its a wake up call. He doesn't have to follow the footsteps of his father. **** that.

He made a lot of mistakes from his attitude all the way to substance abuse. Lets just see how he approaches things from now.

    I'm gonna give him a 2nd chance.

THEY picked Fonfara because they thought theyd win. The whole I told him not to face that guy was marketing, for when Jr won it would look that much more impressive.
