You can't love all and you can't please all either. As far as Jr. is concerned, I disliked him before for being overprotected and getting a free WBC title.

True, thank you for the correction. I don't think of Vera as a light heavy but indeed its what it is. I think they should have eased him into the size and level of opponent that is Fonfara though. Its one thing to get accustomed to carrying the weight effectively at a new weightclass, its another to get accustomed to fighting the fighters who are naturally in that weightclass and cutting weight to make it.

When one thinks about it, Chavez Jr could have had any big fight he wanted, Froch, Hopkins, Golovkin, ect..... and yet he chose an almost complete high risk no reward type fight. Its admirable.

his reward had he won, would have probably been a crack at kovalev or stevenson. if thats what he had his eye on, he did try and ease into it.

its interesting the way al handled this situation with chavez....and the broner/maidana thing

at least haymon has fonfara with him too in this situation.....but both were kind of dangerous moves up in weight....broners especially

Fully agree there. He literally had big names lined up to fight him and it would've easily been on PPV, but he picked a serious risk instead despite his father's warning. Rather than insult him and call him a joke like the majority of idiots are, I'd rather(like you are) admire his courage. Fonfara also deserves credit for proving everyone wrong despite being completely overlooked by the general public.

Maybe Sr. warned Jr. that he wasn't good enough to fight an opponent who is close to his own size.

Go back to being a cruiserweight fighting Jr. middleweights or make Fonfara go down to super middleweight while Jr. stays at cruiserweight. :tong

If Jr. was dedicated to his conditioning the logical move would have been to 168. But, that division is deeper. So, good luck being a force there. He gets credit for taking on a decent competitor. But, in terms of wise career moves, it's quite similar to Broner jumping up to WW and getting a reality check from Maidana.
