I take it this **** > is directed at the top 10 comment & not the best of Mexico comment. Ive explained this too many times.
atsch I did forget Bill, and no worries I used to do that myself. However, since I realised that the footage of Langford vs Lang was 'decent' enough I thought 'well I can't have one rule for one and for the others' so I started including everyone from the gloved era onwards:good
Yeah, Duran's resume at 135 was just fine. Ray Lampkin and Hector Thompson were too other very good Duran opponents.
:good Thats right, i thought i was the only one on the Classic forum to have him in the top 10. Actually i have him 10th. I agree with Ricardo, Chavez gets a lot of slack for supposedly padding his record but bottom line he made around 30 title defenses against worthy contenders, a record unmatched by greats of the past, he also never lost in his prime. At least the Classic rates him higher than many of the know nothing Newbs to boxing on the General Forum. Any one that knows boxing can look at Chavezs record and see the numerous top contenders and World champs that he beat. Obviously his dominant win over the highly touted Martinez proved that he was as good as his glossy record. And after that figth fought world class fighters and the best his divisions had at the time, without ever losing(in his prime).
So were Edwin Viruet,Vilomar Fernandez,Saoul Mamby all top notch fighters in their division. Also the undeafeated Bizzaro and how about his one punch ko over kobayashi, also kod Champ Guts Ishimatsu.
lol I am watching Chavez vs Maywaether 2 right now. After 3 rounds I have it three rounds to zero for Chavez, while Lederman has it the other way around.
Where are you getting that of Chavez' first 43 opponents only 6 had winning records??????? If its Boxrec.com, let me give you a dose of reality......Boxrec.com 's record keeping is incomplete for the great majority of the fighters listed there......particularly fighters who fought outside the US. If you look up the names Roberto Duran and Alexis Arguello, boxrec has them as World Champions fighting fighters who were winless with 0-3 and 0-4 records...... .....but that just is'nt the case, Boxrec.com's records are just incomplete.....there is really no way for them to compile the records of every fighter who ever laced them up. I find it that the most complete records that Boxrec has are those of fighters with fine amatuer pedigree.....for example fighters who compiled names for themselves even before turning pro. For example, the fighters like Ray Leonard and Pernell Whitaker, (just about every Olympic boxer) had a following before turning pro and thus the records of there opponents were more looked into and better traced.
That has always been Harold Lederman......a complete clown of a scorer. I cant begin to tell you how frustrated I was watching his scores come across the screen for such fights as Chavez-Taylor, and both JMM-Pacquiao fights, but particularly their first fight which Lederman scored for Pacquiao 115-110. Even without the 3 knockdowns in the fight, Lederman would have had Pacquiao winning that first fight 7-5 in round. How the hell do you give Pacquiao 7 rounds in that fight???? I dont know of a single ******* that has ever crossed this forum who had it that wide for Pacquiao...... ....just unbelievable, and Harold Lederman's finest hour for the inept judge he always has been.:-(
