I got it from my uncle David Marker who worked as a masseuse for Meldrick during those years. He told me that Meldrick was physically ravaged from that fight. Did you watch the fight? Did you see the shape Taylor was in at the end of that fight? Maybe you were too busy scribbling mustaches and horns on pictures of Sugar Ray Leonard.
Let me know if you don't believe my source. I have a very nice picture of Meldrick and my uncle that I can scan. Meldrick was a good guy. It's a shame he ended up the way he did.

I'm not going negative over this but that's not conclusive evidence a fighter is finished. did you see Meldrick's fight with Davis where he won the elterweight title? I did and he didnt look so ravaged to me. he won every round and looked sharp.

I personally believe it was Norris who finished him because in his next fight, Chrisanto Espana, took his title. 2 back to back losses in boxing usually spells the end of a career.

My bad. I forgot not only is Leonard the anit-christ, but Terry Norris is the "Jesus" of boxing. I didn't realize by paying Chavez a compliment that I was dissing your boy. I'm done being negative too. I'm going to go watch Julian Jackson's greatest knockouts. I don't know maybe some Dana Rosenblatt or Laurent Bouduani highlights. I always enjoyed Simon Brown too. I haven't seen any Derrick Kelly or Keith Mullings highlights for awhile. That's a pretty good Sunday evening. These guys must be pretty damn awesome. After all, they beat the guy who beat Leonard. It's a long list, but hey, it's Sunday, a day of rest.

Nearly fell off my ****in seat when I read that.

As for the top line.... yes, Taylor was in a terrible state, it goes to show how much heart the guy had to stand & fight with JCC in the last rd when he should have been on his bike celebrating the best performance & win of his career.

Its hard to think of any modern fighter that could break Chavez`s will in that sort of war type fight, possibly Duran, but even then, I doubt it.

    :thumbsup

THIS version of Chavez would have defeated Oscar de la Hoya, as Taylor was light years faster of hand and foot than Oscar.

No harm my friend. At least I dont have to make up stories to defend my point of view when all I have to do is point to the evidence, something you never had. But what the hell, I'm gullible.

Elaborate on what Taylor's massuese told you. That's much more convincing than watching Taylor pick up another world title. His body sure look ravaed to me at 24 years! ;)

While you're at it, tell me again how much better Leonard was than the guy the guy who scored four 10-8 rounds (all in the same fight) won every round, scored two kd's, knocked out his teeth, and sent him into a 6 year retirement (as a 3-1 underdog mind you)

I'm SURE Leonard would have handled him no sweat during his prime ;)

What abot Oscar? He broke his will in the rematch and he was beggining to weaken in the return match with Randall. It makes me wonder how would have ended if not for the butt. They still had a good 4 rounds to go and Randall proved at least his equal up to that point.

In the end though it doesnt lessen the pain he inflicted on Ray Leonard and his fans not to mention I was about the only one who called this fight correctly-not only who would win but that it would be a blowout. Norris went on to become a young legend while leonard had to retire-

Terry Norris totally stripped away Leonard's bragging rights. Only winners get bragging rights.

    Remember that
