The Chavez-Vera rematch did 1.39 million viewers Saturday which is slightly less than their first fight and the best for HBO so far this year.

It does, but I don't think it would do great as a PPV event, personally.

I just wonder how much it would garner on HBO reg.

Chavez-GGG does a respectable 600k-700k I think PPV, though how its priced would matter - and probably about 1.8m regular HBO.

Gennady Golovkin is a complete unknown to casual fans. If they want to put him in a PPV against Chavez Jr. they need to market him more.

    Based on..... ?

My experiences beg to differ. Ignoring the hard ratings of his last HBO outing for a second (similar to JR/Vera ratings) - anecdotally lots of people I know who had ignored boxing for MMA have started paying more attention to boxing because of Golovkin.

The people I speak of are 100% "casual" fans. (Last night I was asked by one if Ward and Mayweather would fight, to give you an idea. )

Ah, screw the casual fan. . . . They tend to think Mayweather is the bee's knees!

Surprise surprise, better than Ward's last fight. Yet Ward still seems to think he's the biggest money generating fighter between 160 and 175
