True that. I'm not trying to take anything away from Duran either, he is a true warrior and ATG but Leonard in my opinion hands Duran a loss if not a beatdown in a serious war:yep
duran is the superior boxer but styles make fights. i believe that jcc's superior toughness and bodypunching could be the difference how will roberto react when JCC takes his best punches without flinching? Even though his boxing skills are underatted, duran was no whitaker
:rofl And you wonder why people don't take your stupid ass seriously when it comes to Floyd. Because you lack any perspective for which to compare him to the greats. Duran was a level above Chavez in every way, one of the best I've ever seen on film(in contention for the very best) in his prime. Just a much more versatile fighter.
He was a more skilled, versatile, and overall better INSIDE FIGHTER than Chavez, so what does it matter? The fact that he was better on the outside is a bonus.
Sorry pea but if you honestly believe Duran was above Chavez in every way you are full o **** my friend:yep
Then do tell, which area did Chavez have him beat in? He was more texbook, but that allowed for a lot more versatility on Duran's part. Duran fought with a lot more passion and ferocity as well(he was more or less a passion fighter, if he didn't have his passion he didn't have the same effectiveness), which rarely if ever allowed him to come off second best when within even mid-range, whereas Chavez had to get himself more or less planted in close to put in the kind of work Duran did. Chavez had a very good straight right from mid-range, Duran had one of the best of all time. Duran was much better at feinting, slipping, countering, etc. His defensive abilities made him a more efficient inside fighter and better at quickly closing the gap, though Chavez was very good at cutting off the ring. The only people who would say different are people who have simply not taken the time out to watch and analyze Duran at his best, people who are biased toward Chavez, or people who flat don't know what they're watching. Duran was clearly the superior fighter.
I agree mostly with the first paragraph which is mainly why I say Chavez wins... In my opinion they were both roughly equal in terms of skill or superiority...yes Duran was the more passionate fighter but not by much and it really doesnt factor in as much as you make it out to, especially here. I respect and understand your opinion pea, and based on your posts you have done likewise for me Cheers mate, I'm to bed
I HAVE SEEN THE DURAN THAT BEAT SRL, JIMMY HEAIR, CARLOS PALOMINO, WILFRED BENITEZ, AND A BUNCH MORE FIGHTS...I STILL LIKE CHAVEZ IN THIS FIGHT...
Duran, probably by UD, 8-6-1 in a 15 round fight. Personally, I think a more interesting fight would be Pryor vs. Chavez @ 140.
JCC quit more than once. Prime for prime (and Duran wasn't in his prime against Leonard) at 135, I'd pick Duran...although Chavez would give it a spirited showing.
