On Monday, a Mexican dude, and a generally astute observer of boxing, that I know asked me what I thought of the Mayweather vs Mosley tilt.

After a few moments on that topic, my Mexican friend opined, "Floyd's good, but Chavez would have beaten him." I asked him at what weight, and he replied, "135-140."

While I have nothing but respect for Chavez, a great warrior and a worthy champion in every respect, I simply cannot envision him winning this fight. Indeed, though Chavez might very well present an interesting challenge, upon further reflection I see Floyd earning a reasonably comfortable UD.

    Thoughts??

Mayweather style isn't a million miles away from Sweet Pea so you could draw comparisons from that fight. It's too tough to call for me.

Jose Luis Castillo was Chavez's sparring partner and was influenced in style of fighting.

He gave Floyd two of his toughest fights and many think he lost the first, myself included. Now replace Castillo with Chavez who was levels above.

This topic has been discussed to death already FYI.

Right on the money my friend, JLC in his prime was just a poor man version of Chavez, style makes fights and I think JCC style was all wrong for PBF.

By the way, Floyd might be able to pull a split desicion but I doubt he would be the same fighter after this fight, Chavez was a career changer (or finisher in some cases) for his opponents.

JCC would KTFO of mayweather. Mosely had Mayweather rocked early, JCC would of connected with more punches through out the fight. Lets not forget JCC got through Roger Mayweathers shoulder roll defense and knocked him out, in two fights

prime chavez would have got to floyd a little bit but mayweather would outbox him just like sweet pea did.fyi when mayweather was 16 - 18 he was a amature fighting or sparring i should say the best n the world.manny at 16 was a pro doing what ever it was he was doing.but alot of people dont know that 18 mayweather used to sparr with sweet pea.at this time sweet pea was in his early 30's maybe late 20's and mayweather was 18.legend has it that was one of the best sparring matches by two gifted guys ever.

i wish there was some video footage somewere of it.mayweather vs whittaker !
you know how much talent no not talent but god given gift would be in that ring ? that what im talking about skillz pay the bills, do they pay urs ?

mayweather wouldn't of danced with the devil until chavez was 39, therefore money may by decision.......

a prime chavez at 135-140 would've put the hurtin on lil floyd.....bad !!!!

**** that, if he beats him at 39 then he so does at 29 and 19.and if he was a champion and number 3 pound for pound fighter in the world and considered the best ww and already tryed to fight that man 10 yrs ago.well then it aint his fault and chavez would get out boxed.not that meldrick taylor **** or sweet pea.
but that mayweather and not that roger mayweather but that pretty boy would beat him and money may would beat him as well.
