He closed the door first and has made no co-promotion an explicit condition of floated fights like Mares-Donaire. Also GBP/Haymon guys have fought on Top Rank cards a heckuva lot more recently than vice versa.

Like I said before, its not the TR/GBP fued that bugs me. Its all the smaller promoters and their fighters that get caught up in the strategies of the bigger players.

TR makes real fights with guys outside of TR a lot more often lately than Haymon an Co. That statement should not be taken as an endorsement by me of Arum as a person, thats just the way it has been recently.

If GGG-Quillin somehow does happen, it would be the first major non-mandatory fight with an outside entity in a good long while.

 

Not the same fighters at all. I never thought Bute was that good but GGG has mad skills. serious power and a great amatuer record to back it up

TR's now forced to make fights with other promoters because their stable is dwindling. They acted in an equally insular manner a few years ago, but even now they're primarily making fights with promoters who will have to entirely give in to their terms. Hell Golovkin hasn't even fought a Top Rank opponent but they had or still have options on him. And I must reiterate that Haymon and GBP had no problem letting Lara fight Martirosyan on a Top Rank but the favor wasn't returned when TR failed to win the purse bid for the rematch.
