Masterclass by Chavez who was moving up in weight and overpowered the highly regarded Rosario. There was no rematch because it was such a conclusive victory

I expected a more competitive bout frankly, and was just blown away by Chavez's performance..I knew then he was an atg.

I did expect Edwin to put up a better fight, but I was surprised how Chavez was handling him..

I thought personally that the Chavez-Rosario encounter was easily one of the top 2 knockout fights of the year in '87, alongside Mike McCallum's crushing 5-round tko over Donald Curry. Chavez's brutal 11th round tko over Rosario was no doubt awe inspiring and was Julio Sr's coming out party into the big time as well as the road to his being an ATG.

The most exciting one sided thrashing I ever saw. As mentioned already, possibly Chavez's peak performance.

To think, it is alleged Rosario's misses made Edwin's young Son sit through the entire bout at ringside...

Imagine seeing that, your dad getting brutalised like that! My old fella just refused point blank to let me go to his fights.

    Epic performance

Not only was this the most impressive Chavez fight in my eyes but, this was one of the greatest performances in boxing history. Can you imagine Buchanan Duran against this Chavez? What a war! And one that I am not convinced Duran would have a clear win against.

There is one part in the fight where Rosario could not get out of his own corner. He got up off the stood, Chavez started on him right there, the bell rang, and Rosario just sat right back down.

This was in the same mold of Pacquaio - Barerra I.
