Why would you reference the Ramirez rematch?
For the first fight to go Ramirez' way, he must have won more than a couple of ten second stretches? Chavez dominated Ramirez & didn't want to destroy him because they were friends. Whitaker was more dominate against Haugen??? Chavez destroyed him!! Beating Haugen to a pulp & finally putting him out of his misery. As for Mayweather, Chavez knocked him out then beat him to the point where Roger quit on his stool. pretty dominating to me!

Whitaker was on the way to dominating Ramirez worse than Chavez did in the first fight but then he broke his hand midway through the fight. From the time Whitaker used only one hand it became an even contest. Was Chavez more dominant in his fight with Ramirez than Whitaker was in his first fight with Ramirez? I'd say yeah, slightly.

As for the Mayweather fights, I'd say Chavez, whilst more dominant in the first fight, had more of a struggle than Whitaker did against Mayweather in the Mayweather rematch, despite Mayweather quitting on his stool.

If you want to play the who was more dominant game throughout their whole careers we can sure do that.

I could mention how Chavez came close to losing against Laporte and Lockridge for starters, and cast doubt over the Meldrick Taylor win, where Chavez was being outboxed, but I decided to be charitable to Chavez and let those issues slide.

If you want to get into post-prime shenanigans we can do that too. I'll swap you Rivera for Randall/Kamau/Gonzalez as far as charitable decisions go.

If we're going to go through all the post prime stuff we can include Whitaker losing to Tito, and we can also include Chavez's wins over Meldrick Taylor twice and Randall when they were both old as ****.

I think the Coked up Whitaker is about even prime wise with the Chavez who fought De la Hoya the second time and Gonzalez.
