Saldivar as well when he cut loose, though he often favoured sharpshooting single straight lefts.

Definitely ... he can threw punches in a very short space but with perfect accuray and an amazing power....

For me, JCC is one truly rare boxer who was a coming forward style fighter but smart, technically gifted and master ring generalship.....

One of a kind in the sport

The best offensive fighter of all time for me

wow Chavez had great combos, just an ATG
but like others have said there is Gomez, Mccallum, HEARNS (james shuler anyone?) and of course Roberto Duran.

Igual como Mexico nomas hay solo un Chavez!!!

I wish his physically gifted son would try to be himself and not his dad.

    I agree with everybody.

Although I don't think Chavez should be highlighted as "the" greatest at putting clusters of punches to body and head, I wouldn't say there was anybody better than him at it either. That highlight is one of the more impressive highlights I've seen, and although I still think he had a padded record, his skills cannot be denied.

I think Zarate deserves a mention here. Maybe not quite as compact as some of the others mentioned, but with his power, his shots to the body and head were hard to withstand when delivered in combination.

It's Wilfredo Gomez for me...better combination puncher to the head and body and with superlative power. He didn't have to hit a guy as much as Chavez did.

If you really watch Chavez work, then he always or almost always. Starts with a jab, a straight right, then finishes off with a left hook to the boby. Over and over again. With amazing effectiveness.

Salvador Sanchez mixed up the attack very well & had a very effective body attack himself.

Great video. Bobby Czyz and Ferdie Pacheco were spot on. I remember reading on this site how him and Ricky Hatton would have been a tear up. NO WAY. He would have shredded Hatton´s face within 4 rounds with that accuracy. I really can´t see anybody at 135 to 140 since he retired beating him. That includes Floyd, Tzsyu, Mosley and Pacquiao. Chavez had the chin to withstand their shots and the accuracy to land on the inside unlike any other fighter these modern greats ever faced.
