since turning pro amir khan was being exploited as the savior of boxing and the sucessor to noted british fighters such as hatton and calzaghe, being of asian decent i was quite thrilled at his arrival to the scene this was part of the reason why i supported him,
being labelled and compared to sugar ray leonnard and a young oscar de la hoya seem'd very flattering at the time, it seemd as though khan was already being built as legend even before stepping into the ring 3 years ago i was a layman in my understanding of the sweet science i never had any idea that you needed a decent chin to take a hard punch this together with khan obliterating the first 10 of his opponents led me to be seduced by the hype surrounding him i gave him the benefit of the doubt in the limmond fight altough as he was cautiously being matched and ducking useless nobodies (i'm sorry) after the st claire fight i thought he showed some promise however my view completly shifted 180 degrees after the gomez fight, by then i knew the writing was already on the wall for a spectacular KTFO, I predicted presscot would nail him in the 1st round, when the 1st bell sounded and khan was heavily kd'd i decided to turn away and watch no more, i dicided to write this piece because in the past iv been accused as being a khan appologist and rightly so, i'v learnt my lesson being young and naive emotions can get the better of you.as for where i stand with khan i honestly dont care any more when you put so much faith in something that falls below expectations you feel cheated i could see the ko happening but when it did i felt like **** for being such a fool and investing time in a lost cause.

Good post Faisal. I know exactly where you are coming from although my change in attitude happened towards Khan changed alot earlier.

Then again with some fighters I can be a fan one minute and an hater the next. My opinion on Hatton changes like the wind.

I totally disagree. My only issue is his last fight which was a total farce. Prior to that I have no MAJOR issues but I would have advised him to do one or two things.

    Those would be.............

    1. Prove yourself at domestic level
    2. Shun the spotlight
    3. Stop boxing in a style suited to ams

I just had to have a fiver on a KO against him - 10/1 at Willhills, was 80/1 for a first rounder though

He did, and he lost his only means of defence, footwork.

I cannot fathom why you are so harsh on yourself.

Khan might never be as good as you had hoped or led to believe by so-called experts, but he is a good fighter who can have a nice career if he works hard and matures a bit more. In the short time, it's important for him to be honest with himself. He isn't as talented as he hoped, he's not a fast learner and he doesn't have a good chin.

BUT...he has a big heart, is ambitious, hard-working and eager to please his fans, win or lose. He is still worth supporting!

If you enjoy boxing, you should be happy he got you interested in the first place. :good

Khan never was and never will be, Prince Naseem.

A sodding medal means zip in the pro ranks.

Why is Khan always compared to Naz?, there are no similarities at all.

Agree about moving up to 140

there was similarities when khan first turned pro, he didnt have the punch but was just as quick and tricky - if not had more "variety in his punches" and more boxing skill

hes changed dramatically since the Olympics

naz won around half his first dozen fights by straight ko and has always been a switch-hitter. i.e. nothing like khan.

yea but the way naz used to jump around on his toes was like khan when he first turned pro - khan didnt have the punch but used to move the same, the way he dodged punches and leaned back - its like an asian style they both have

black fighters fight the same, mayweather, whitiker, roy jones, terry norris...... they have similar skills
