quite honestly there will always be talent and skill however the family burdens will always hinder any kind of progress in the professional game, the kind of ladder u have to climb in pro-boxing requires immense dedication

a strong family is a plus

    Remember Faisal

there are 2nd and 3rd generation asians bringing up their children in the UK,they take their kids to football practise, boxing gyms, they know the score,do not under estimate them!

The best boxers of the last 20 years were trained by their father,Roy Jones and Floyd Mayweather

    btw

Joe Calzaghe would not be were he is today with out his dad

He sure was he was miles apart from Naz in every department.

He lacks the KO power punch, he lacks a chin, the only thing he has got in common with Naz is he can talk **** but Naz could back his **** up in the ring.

Maybe Khan like thousands of other Pakistani kids (especially with the Naz haricuts) tried to connect with Naz and be like him but he did not have the tools to back it up.

    Naz could be seriously funny.

This is a classic (... I'm looking good):

a pro style is centered around physical attributes, an amatuer style is centered around athletic attributes.

he was using what got him here. an amatuer style. aggresive tactics, using fients, forcing mistakes and offencive nippy combinations to swarm his man out of there.

it was clear that khan had a pretty bad game plan. he was smacked with a heavy jab at the start of the round, still he was wanting to exchange broadsides. he got tagged with another punch...and the guy still wants to trade with prescott...the warning lights were blaring and amir chose or didnt recognise them. why would he? he had never fought anyone who could really trouble him. yeah some gave him a few problems. but typically he was going to use his athleticic ability's to get round it and win the fight. high output on exchanges and movement was what got him the win before why would it be any different.

the difference was that this guy was a puncher and had a clear plan to take khan out early.

it was a case of not having a boxing plan but only a puncher plan.

why is a 5'10 (he is reported of being smaller 5'8, 5'9) lightwieght trying to trade with an opponant in the first roudn i dont know he didnt have him hurt he didnt have him in position he hadnt worked him out yet...but there he is trying to get the 1st round ko

    foolish foolish foolish.

hopefully he can reinvent himself and fight some tougher but limited opponants. like jueregi or sumone like that.do what benn did and travel. dont know if it's the right phrase but he has to soul search and look into himself a bit more...you know what i mean:think.

It's not so much the close-knit family values which are a problem, but more the Asian culture of over protectiveness and dependency which hinders risk taking and the development of ruthless determination, competetiveness and focus to succeed.
Khan should have left Bolton after the Olympics to train in the US without the comforts of his home life. He shouldn't be treating his boxing matches as a family day out, it's a brutal profession.

Jones and Mayweather's fathers were ex-boxers themselves, so there's no comparison really. De La Hoya also stayed close to home when he turned pro and his father did interfere in his career - but at least in LA he was exposed to the top end professionals from an early stage. Given the macho culture of Mexicans I wouldnt be surprised if his father had at least been an amateur boxer himself.

de la hoyas dad is what made him the fighter that he was, his dad would beat on him and force him into the gym everyday after school, and oscar grew up in a deprived area of east LA, even after the olympics and his first few professional fights his family were still dirt poor
