Basically I wanna know your thoughts on Pauls performance over the 6 rounds. Forget about the dodgy doc/ref.

For me it was way way below the standard I expected from him. I have said it was pathetic and I stand by that.

I think everybody is all for supporting a fighter thats done something worth celebrating but many feel Paul doesn't deserve that right now.

If Junior Witter got a heros welcome in Sheffield after the Zab Judah fight most would have questioned it as strange.

I've already gave my thoughts on it a number of times. I didnt have him winning a round.

But I wouldnt described it as pathetic. Far from it. He was making Khan miss, but when you make a fighter miss you have to punish them for their sloppiness. McCloskey was unable to do that.

McCloskeys team had stated to some Irish journalists prior to the fight that the gameplan was to weather the early rounds, conserve energy and make the most of the attacks in the second half of the fight. Believe that if you wish, or not as the case may be.

Some might argue that its very convenient to say that as the fight didnt get into the second half and therefore there is no proof of that, I would say that it is actually very inconvenient.

The stoppage was shockingly poor. McCloskey fans are enititled to crow about it.

How am I being sarcastic you clown. The majority of Dudeys fans would be from a rural or middle class background.

Hence the reason we decided to do the afterparty for them because we knew there would be no trouble. I couldnt say the same for some other Irish fighters.

    :patsch...

Slap, the Irish fans on Dudey's FB page are the worst set of deluded fans I've ever seen.

    Cheated not defeated? Seriously...

I don't doubt for one second that it was his game plan but i think it was a **** poor one which wouldn't have worked.

i don't think there any real skill to just not getting it. you have to at least be countering or slipping shots on the inside for it to be classed as something difficult to do.

McCloskeys fans are entitled to be annoyed at the stoppage as our all boxing fans (im not as it saved me from 6 more dull rounds) but his performance is not something to be proud of or take any encouragement from.

I am sure they are. Most of the people on there will be family and neighbours. He is from a small town and its a pretty close knit community where there live revolve around sport - Gaelic football and hurling - he are always going to back him and many wont have a great deal of knowledge about boxing.

All they will know is that Dudey wasnt cut badly and could have fought on. They feel cheated. Its as simply as that.

All the furore is good for his support in my opinion. I think it will galvanise his support. Hopefully they can get someone like Olusegun to Belfast and fill the Kings Hall.
