Check Hook

    What are some methods that i can use to practice this punch during my routine , because a person cant really time a heavy bag and exicute the check hook with out actually sparing ... if any one has any tips let me kno

    Why? It's not that big a deal. This whole obsession with it seems to stem from Mayweather-Hatton. Before that, noone even knew what it was, and everyone did fine.

    If you have to ask it probably means you are not advanced enough to consider doing a check hook. It took the best boxer in the world forever to time the check hook perfectly which punished Hatton for his lunging style. The check hook is difficult to learn and is not used against every opponent. Why do you need to practise an advanced boxing technique when you probably have not yet perfected the basics.

    Check hook is just a punch, no different from any other. Only reason it seemed so special in that fight was because it was done as a counter.
    So what you really want to practice here is countering. Practicing that can only really be done through training with a partners. Whether it be through pads, partner drills, or sparring, thats the only way to effectivly practice countering.

    Its just a counter left hook. Kinda like countering over your opponents jab with your own jab.
