Where on YouTube could I find a good example of a check hook?

What boxers were noted for being good with that punch?

    Thanks.

Roy Jones had the best ever check hook. Forget Mayweather-Hatton... if you wanna see a beautiful check hook... check out Roy's KO of Sugar Boy Maligna.

I wish the search function on this forum went back far enough to find out how often "check hook" had been used before December 2006.

    Is that what it is?

I always though it was rotating 180 degrees after/while throwing the hook by pivoting on your left foot.

Well, that's one of the main(and safest) options available to a fighter letting a counter or lead hook go against an incoming oppponent.Moving off to the side rather than backing straight up for a bit, or initiating a clinch if the shot doesn't hurt the opponent etc..

I don't thnk the focus is on the footwork here so much as the situation when the punch is thrown.

Different trainers from different era's will have their own names for certain moves of course.I bet many don't complicate things by going much further than the usual lead\counter prefixes for any punch.

I'd never heard of the damned term before the Mayweather-Hatton bout. I think it's a bogus, b.s. type of term like "hate crime". It's just a damned hook that catches guy that's coming in aggressively, that's all. Was the left that Robinson ko'ed Fullmer with a "check hook"? A new-age ******* terminology to describe a normal, everyday left hook.
