This fight is definitely a farce, but the undercard is going to be good.

fenechs chin should have a "WATCH this space" target on it.

also, i recon the light and camera angle doesnt do nelson any favours in the pic.....

Truly i dont get some of these fans right Sure they are over the hill but truly anyone who rips this and defends the clowns Mundine fights is clearly on drugs.

Least these two are old but Mundine fighting guys like Nishi who was nothing more than a old man punching bag or fights like Matumla, Darmel Castillo, Rico Chong Nee and Ruben Acosta how are they not a bigger joke then the Fenech Nelson fight?

Mundine is a prime fighter facing guys that are either over or have just stepped into a boxing ring with shocking records. Least Both fenech and Nelson are over the hill and will give it a go, Plus the big plus is one fight on the undercard called KICKETT v St CLAIR thats the real fight fans will wanna see.

    enech ready for Nelson!

    June 21, 2008

By Ray Wheatley -- World of Boxing

Talking today on top rated Australian boxing 2SM radio show - Always In your corner - with host Mark Warren - former three time world champion Jeff Fenech (28-3-1, 21 KOs) said he had done the hard work in the gym and was confident of victory over fellow Hall of Famer Azumah Nelson (39-5-2, 28KOs) in a scheduled ten round bout next Tuesday at the Vodafone Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

"I am very confident of victory." Fenech said. "I know what to expect on Tuesday. It will be a huge night in Australian boxing. I am in great shape for this fight - I have lost 46 pounds. I would like to thank Australian television station channel nine who will telecast the weigh-in live on Monday night at 6.30pm on 'A Current Affair.'

"This fight is doing a lot for several charities. Last night my friend and former Australian heavyweight contender Mick Gatto purchased a boxing glove for AUD$7000, signed by Azumah and myself. This money will go to the Shane Warne Foundation. I am going to do Australia proud on Tuesday."

It was reported there has been a $250,000 bet placed by American gambler and Azumah Nelson fan - James J. Smith. This bet was covered by Joey Melhelm who is Jeff Fenech's manager.

Respected Perth boxing trainer Craig Christian watched Azumah Nelson work out and was very impressed. "I watched Azumah train and he looks awesome. " said Christian. "At 49 years of age he seems to have plenty left. There is an aura about him."

Fenech boxed a 12 round draw with Nelson in Las Vegas in disputed 1991 WBC 130 pound challenge. In 1992 Nelson stopped Fenech in eight rounds in Melbourne, Australia with WBC title up for grabs.

Former world rated flyweight Angky Angkota will clash with Omari Kimweri of Tanzania over twelve with IBF Pan Pacific flyweight title on the line. Kimweri recently stopped Australian flyweight champion Shane Brock.

In a ten round bout - hot Aussie prospect William Kickett (10-0) will have the toughest fight of his career when he meets former world IBF 130 pound champion Gairy St Clair (40-6-2) who has been Fenech's main sparring partner for the past two months.

    70 kilos is the limit

Jeff was 66 or there abouts a week or so ago? Azumah will be right on it if he makes it at all.
