Yea....but I think more of him not being mentioned has to do with the weight class he fought. The man was incredible and was beatiful to watch in the ring. When people talk about "craft" in boxing they should reference Finito b/c he's classic text book boxing.....not with all the flash and speed or athletic ability....he just was a master boxer both in offense and Defense. he didn't need to be especially athletically gifter or supremely talented b/c he as able to control the best of boxers with skill and instinct. One of the very best ever......unfortunately he didn't get the attention he deserved but anyone in boxing appreciated what he brought to the ring. I'm surprised that he wasn't a bigger star in MX.
Technically yea.....the difference is Roy wasn't a highly SKILLED fighter...I mean he could box but he did things other fighters COULDN'T dream of doing b/c of the talent and natural gifts Roy was blessed with. Which is why we saw Roy's decline when those "gifts" went away due to age. Had he focused more on the craft and sciecne that embodies boxing Roy would still be able to compete now....unfortunately Roy is still trying to fight like he is in his physical prime and that ain't gonna work now.
