This is what I been doing. Yeah some turn out better than other the model/app you use impacts thing's quite a bit.

I'm wondering how much you attempted to try and colorize drawing/depiction's?
I find those results almost mind blowing at times. Sometimes it's god awful but I did a drawing of Joe Goddard into colorized and it produced an incredible product. I will get around to uploading some.

I just Colorized this photo of Jim Barry certainly NOT what anyone probably though he looked like. He was a very good looking chap he had to be a hit with the ladies.

These to me are about half Ai as your not changing poses or recreating an image (not counting the background) it's just cleanup... But as always some folks vehemently hate any version of Ai

I fully endorse any version's as it's something you can take with a grain of salt if you so well choose. Bringing history to life should be celebrated to me. Anything & everything.

In video's I will take the original & show an evolution of the photo.

As a old black/white photographer I can only say that I am sad to see all these wonderfull photographs in B/W turned into into color crap.

 

agree, but it's the ones that are grainy or poor quality that most people try and improve on...
I tried Chatgpt and wasn't over pleased with many of them.

But people with Tech Skills and better programmes can fix some otherwise not great photos, No?

 

I agree with he grant. If you start with the original photo of poor quality who doesn't want too see what behind door #2 with improved quality. Where not living in 2026 "NOT" too use technology.

But it doesn't mean we can't appreciate old fight photographers. It's not an insult intended at them.

P.S. You can take a black & white photo and improve on it & still keep it in black & white. That's entirely possible.

 

Here's really crappy quality photo. Let's see what can be done with it & try and stay in black & white...someone take a stab at it & post it.

I'd like to see someone else take a swing besides myself.

This is what you get NOT cleaned up grainy hard too see....photo's. If that's your bag then who am I too say different. This is on the better side of grainy I have far worse than this...from history.

I've looked through like 1000 newspaper dates of boxing at this point I got a pretty big collection of bad photo's. Bad photo's I find very frustrating. Sometimes you can't even make the guy out.

Not to distract from the thread’s core subject but I thought this use of AI (see below) was pretty cool.

It’s not meant to usurp the original stills and film but it’s still compelling all the same with a nice touch of acceptable, artistic surreality to it.

It used to be nature, you be scary, now it’s AI, you be scary! Lol!
