Fellow fight fans, I invite you to check out these unbiased International, North American and Canadian rankings: http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/La_Zone_de_Boxe's_Monthly_Ratings Let us know what you think.
The rankings are published every month by the writers of the French-Canadian boxing magazine "La Zone de Boxe". Being a member of the team, I'm obviously biased, but I think the rankings are pretty good. We started with the idea of generating only International rankings, but faced with the absence of any independent North American or Canadian rankings we decided to add those as well.
Pretty good by and large, the only one that really sticks out for me is Huck at 3 in the cruiser rankings. The only top guy he fought was Cunningham and he got outclassed badly. I can't see why he's ahead of the likes of Enzo, Fragomeni, Jones etc especially when his opposition and performances since that fight haven't been great. Any reason why he's up there, or is it soley based on him being fairly active recently?
The rankings seem quite good, but I've got a question. What's your definition of North America exactly? I see people from Nigeria, Ghana, Romania, Colombia, Venezuela, France and probably many other countries in your North American rankings. And if that's based on where they fight/where their promoters are based then Cuban Yoan Pablo Hernandez shouldn't be included because he fights in Germany all the time.
Our criteria is that a fighter must make a North American country his fighting base, no matter what country he's from. Hence, a Romanian like Bute is ranked because he fights out of Canada. You are right that by our criteria, Hernandez shouldn't be there. We'll correct that in next month's rankings.
I think his activity level has benefitted him greatly and might have caused him to be ranked a bit too high. That said, I think you're being a bit harsh on Huck. First, he did beat Tokarev, who is a legit top 10 at Cruiserweight. Second, while I was surprised that one judge had him ahead of Cunningham after 11 rounds, I wouldn't say he got outclassed badly. I take some comfort in the fact that The Ring ranks him #5 ahead of Enzo and Fragomeni and ESPN ranks him #4, again ahead of both those guys. That said, I can certainly see your point that #3 might be high for him.
