Who do you guys have ... I don't know much about either fighter but it would nice to get some insight on these two.

I know that Chagaev has a good amateur background and is undefeated ...

I have a feeling that politics is going to play a part in this fight, but aside from all that tell me what you know about the two.

ruslan chagaev my favorite heavyweight right now. he is technically sound with good chin and good power. i only see small clips of carl davis drumond but he looks to have height and speed advantage. i will predict chagaev unanimous decision due to inactivity!

Chagaev is a good fighter. He performed well against Valuev, and easily beat him IMO despite the scores. He fought a very smart fight, keeping out of Valuev's range and then hitting him with straight lefts and hooks with ease. He's a smart fighter, good technical fighter as his background suggests, okay power, tricky southpaw counterpunching style. Only that victory doesn't look quite as good after how bad Valuev looked lately. Also, Chagaev didn't look too good against Skelton, amid rumours of illness again, although Skelton is very awkward and ugly. Another consideration is Chag's inactivity and illness, he will probably lack sharpness tonight.

That said, Drummond does not look good to me. I don't think he's got as much KO power as his ratio suggests against lowly opponents, and I've seen him hurt - I think against Kelvin Davis.

All things said...Chagaev should win this fight by late stoppage, or maybe even decision. Depends how he looks after so much time off.

This fight shouldn't be considered as a title defense but just as a normal tune up bout. I would draw a line to Abraham's next opponent - and Simon is even worse as a contender for a world title.

That said, I think that Chagaev will find his rhythm within 3 rounds, sending Drumond to the canvas in the 4th and finishing him off in round 5.

I also can't see how they can call this a title bout, when the Valuev Holy fight was also a title bout. We now have the regular champion, as well as the champion in recess.............rediculous.

Anyway, I have not seen Drummond fight at all, but Chagaev is a good, fast, skilled fighter with good movement. His drawback is less than impressive power. I think he should win, but, you never know, given how lackluster he was against Skelton, as well as being out for so long.

No, politics won't be needed in this one. Drumond has a padded record from overmatched opponents in Costa Rica and his high KO % is deceptive - he's gone the distance with fighters that have been stopped multiple times before.

His biggest assets tonight are size and determination and the fact that Chagaev is coming off a 13-month layoff and has been riddled with injuries and long rehabs.

This contest won't end in the early rounds. Chagaev will first have to shake off some rust. Plus, he's not that kind of explosive puncher.

If Chagaev stops Drumond it might happen in the final three rounds.
Although I'm leaning toward a wide unanimous decision for Chagaev.

Chagaev by ko between round 5 and 8. Chagaev will look like a mediocre journeyman for some rounds and then connnect with one of his powerful shots and down Drummond goes.
    Anyone seen Chagaev vs Sprott??

This is for the WBA Heavyweight title ... Chagaev IMO is the real champion ...

I don't want to hear about another Chagaev v Valuev fight ... Valuev from what i've heard is 0-1 against him ... I don't know why the WBA is on this guy so tight ... it shouldve been a sign when he got taken the distance by Holyfield.

The only thing I know about Drummond is that he's undefeated but against lower opposition. His only hope is that Chagaev will be rusty after a year off. Chagaev will be too much for him.

Hoepfully, Chag gets the knockout. He apparently has more power in his left than he has shown thus far in his pro career, accept against Sprott. Lets hope to see a stoppage that gets him back on track.
