Seriously this dude is one of the worst strikers iv ever seen. This guys background is apparently in Silat, Kickboxing, Muay Thai etc. But he doesn't seem to be able to master not even a 10th of any of those disciplines.
He's like watching an unintelligible robot with the striking finesse of a pub drunk. I absolutely hate the way Rogan and Goldberg guffaw and gush all over his striking. If this is supposed to be the pinnacle of what the sport has to offer then the future certainly does not look bright.

Well he wins, that what counts. He has good kicks as well along with a long reach. He's very strong as well. All those factors make him hard to fight!

Kongo is a VERY powerful guy. I remember when Gilbert Yvel fought him. Yvel said his strength was what really surprised him. That said Kongo is a horrendous striker. He has no jab. No punch variation to speak of. And simply doesn't know 'how' to put any punches together let alone kicks. He's also as stiff as a brick with minimal to no ground game at all.

that fight was god awful to watch. Matt was following him for most the 1st and 2nd begging to have a right hand timed while he was coming in. Kongo looked **** scared throughout the fight as well

I thought the fight was abysmal. Mitrione isn't half as good as he thinks he is. If he can't beat a gate keeper like Kongo and get's beaten up like that he's headed to the independent circuit fast. I for one won't miss him.

You are being a little hard on him.

Kongo is the only person to give Cain a run for his money and people talk about him like he is an unstoppable force.

He is 35 and at the end of a long career. Dude has had nearly 50 fights and only been stopped once (maybe twice). He wins against tough guys more often than not.

I'm a Kongo fan now all this hate is on him :mj

Kongo is a solid gatekeeper, separates the potential challengers from the hype.

I was thinking something along the same lines. here is this huge guy, appears to have the physical tools and extensive martial arts experience, so why isnt he more successful. he has the size, strength, athletic ability, etc. yet he fights like a mouse and has losses to guys like Marrero.

What's next for Kongo? Will he land a title shot somewhere in the near future?
