yeah thats the problem...depth- If cormier, fedor, arlovski, monson, silva, werdum, and barnett were added it would guve the ufc much more depth.

The UFC has saturated the market. Regional shows are nice. But the reality is if they're not bringing in the revenue or the marquee names then these go by the bye quite quickly. The UFC is killing this sport slowly and they know it. A monopoly is not good for longevity nor competition. And truth be told my interest in MMA is waning significantly. Been watching this sport for a long time and the quality of the athletes has nose dived. Apart from big name fights i have little to no interest in most of the UFC shows. You cant keep feeding a man the same meal and expect him to always be satisfied. Variety is the spice of life. MMA has none.

No. I LOVED the early UFC's, PRIDE DEEP etc. There was so much choice. So much variety. And the sport was much closer to Vale Tudo which made it far more exciting and produced much better quality fights. That has now been replaced with hybrid wrestling Pankration style. Iv got no interest in that. Plus the stars have gotten older and have not been replaced with the same depth and quality.
That is your personal opinion. Scurla, the simple fact is that MMA in the PRIDE and early UFC format that you loved so much was not and is not ever going to become a respectable, mainstream sport in the US, which is where the money is. Simple as that. You do not seem to understand that although you may not like hybrid wrestling-based octogon fighting, others don't enjoy seeing guys getting their heads soccer kicked and stomped. Because that is not a sporting competition, it is a televised street fight. And this is the prevalent view in the mainstream community. That's why it was one step away from being outlawed completely just a short handful of years ago. :hat
