Anyone mentioned Bowe - Golota 1 yet? Riddick admitted on Legendary Nights that he viewed it "as nothing but a payday" and took him lightly... Sure, he won by DQ, but he took a hell of a beating in the process, so I'd consider that a cherry pick, and one that went wrong for sure.
alexander-kotelnik pac-odlh pac-marquez 3 pac-margarito (say what you want, pac hasn't looked the same after that fight) margarito-mosley
tim austin trying to make a comeback after losing the bantamweight title to marquez gets upset and sent into retirement by eric aiken via TKO...aiken would go on in his next fight to win the ibf featherweight title
cherrypicking is when you choose the easier or the easiest of the options available. pac-jmm 3, who else was pac supposed to fight who was tougher than jmm and is available at that time to qualify jmm as the the cherry???
Meh, did anyone really think that highly of Ronald before that? I supposed it did butt**** Bob Arum's eventually Round Robin of Hearns-Chavez-Duddy.
Most of the posters in this thread don't know **** about Cherry picks. A cherry pick is a guy picking another boxer based entirely on the fact there is no way in hell he can lose and there is nothing that other boxer brings to the table that justifies the fight. Cherry Picks are NOT: Mandatories (Baldomir-Judah) Defending World Champions in the same division (Lacy-Calzaghe) World Champions in a division above or immediately below yours. (Pavlik-Martinez, Mayweather-Castillo) Guys someone fights in their first 10 fights. Guys involved in a tournament(Nobody in the Super Six is a cherrypick)
