Don´t know if this has been mentioned before.
Norris vs Mullings comes to mind.
On a lower level Butterbean vs Mitchell Rose 1-7-1 comming inn. ( I seen to remember that a match maker from Buttebeans´s promotor was fired after the fight because he overlooked that Rose had been a very good amateur, 2 x golden gloves winner or something like that)

Okay I've seen this one a lot. How is Khan-Prescott a cherry pick? Prescott was 19-0, Khan was 18-0 and while Khan had fought the superior competition to that point. Prescott was the Columbia national champ and the WBC FECARBOX champ, and they were fighting for a WBO Intercontinental belt, it wasn't like Khan was the defending world champion or anything picking a bum off the street.

Maybe you ought to change your perception of "cherry picking" and admit that anyone has a shot in that ring.

Going form Paulie to Maidana is a legitimate step up. I don't see the cherry pick here. Going for Pac, Floyd, Bradley and so forth would've been very early. Can't accuse anyone aged 24 of ducking these, can you? Maidana is just that step below and he took him on.

Come on, everybody was excited about this fight. The forum fucking imploded once the fight was over.

    Proksa/Hope 1

Hope hadnt won a welsh area title let alone a Euro strap. supposed to be a stay busy fight and the the light hitting welshman took the fight to Proksa and pulled out a Majority Decision. Lost the rematch by TKO but the first fight made me laugh and really exposed Proksa's flaws

    Kotelnik/Alexander

Despite losing a robbery Kotelnik outboxed Alexander and deserved the decision. Alexander thought because Lhan could beat him that he could too and took him very lightly

    Ortiz/Maidana

Brought in as the opponent coming off his first loss to help build up the next big star and he ends up quitting on his stool when things get tough. El Chino takes your heart :deal

The very title of this thread is what is wrong with some of you boxing fans. Almost everyone mentioned in this thread fights at the very highest level. Its the cliche of any given Sunday, but its true that any giving fight could end in an unexpected result. Fighter A may be the favorite, but fighter B did something right to get the shot at the fight MAJORITY of the time.
