If you were a fighter, or perhaps in the case of your favorite fighter.. would you rather them pick smart fights to advance (cherrypick) or fight all the toughest competition, even if it means taking some losses?

    0, yeah! or 0, no!

I prefer a guy that's willing to fight the best and prove his worth, even if that means losing now and again. But unfortunately the other option seems the most common among fighters thanks to a lot of (so called) boxing "fans" and media outlets placing so much relevance on a loss.

Honestly a mix of both if I'm a fighter.

I'll cherry pick my ass to at least a championship and get on HBO/SHO so I can make money first.

Then after I start to make money and get more attention I'll start trying to get all the major belts in my division.

Money first once I'm good I'll feel the need to put my name and my family's name in the mix with legends. I feel like that in anything I do.

If you're going to do something...do it all the way.

Most people work to make money, if you could make more money at your job doing "less work" wouldn't you? There's of course the exceptions, but this is how most think.

Whatever was best for my health, wealth, and the health and wealth of my family.

If I needed to choose one method over the other to succeed and become a great, thus meeting the above three values best, I would do exactly that.

Promoters, trainers, and managers have much more to do with this than people admit. I would list examples, but every fighter can be broken down as going through phases of each through their career.

On the way up to getting your first title shot it might be better to cherry-pick. Upon getting your first title, fight the best.

I'd go the Oscar route over the Floyd route.

    I'm with you.
Floyd will always have a * by his name. Oscar lost all his major fights, but do we think about that? No. At least not me. I give him all the respect in the world.

Floyd is a clown, fool and loud mouth
    Oscar is a ATG

    Thats how I see it.

I don't think that way at all. I always account for HOW they lost not just that they lost. If they were in the fight most of the time then no shame. If they quit, get whipped or simply out classed then we have a problem. Quitters automatically getting written off in my book till they prove themselves (Ortiz).

But you're right and its sad.
