Maybe if younger Barrera had put on weight, he might have a shot, but by the time he reached 130, Corrales would have beaten him.
Marco Antonio Barrera put in some really tremendous performances after his devastating loss to Manny Pacquiao. He was the first man to stop Paulie Ayala, and I've always thought in the rubber match with Morales that he put on one of his greatest ever performances. He looked fantastic in that fight in 2004. Beautiful job at out hussling his main rival. That said, all of his performances outside of those two with the exception of maybe Marquez, he wasn't very impressive. He made tough work of Jaurez, who is an ordinary fighter at best, and even in the rematch he embarrassed himself a little by running for the majority. It wouldn't have been so bad, but he wasn't countering often enough to be impressive in that fight. It's no coincidence that he only looked truely special after 2003 against his greatest rival, Erik Morales. Marco doesn't have the firepower to stop Diego Corrales, who would more than likely hurt MAB with every flush shot that lands. Corrales by KO any time after the 5th.
MAB was at his best at 122, he's not going to take Diego's shots at 130. Marco looked tiny against Khan.
Barrera was past it at 130 but he would still be a hard fight for Chico but in the end i think Corrales would be too strong for him. that being said MAB is overall the better fighter and ranks higher than Corrales.
