Just read this on the Boxnation on Virgin Media forum.

"Simon Green, the chief executive of the Boxnation boxing channel backed by Frank ******, will be leaving Boxnation to join BT as the head of their new BT Sport pay-TV channel.

Wonder if he'll try and take ******, and some of the boxing rights in place with Boxnation with him? "

    Any thoughts ?

How is it looking for BoxNation, does anyone know?

I heard back in the summer that things weren't looking good and that FW was struggling to pay his fighters because it wasn't making enough money. Then I heard things picked up because of Haye-Chisora and I recently saw an interview with FW saying things were good (but of course he'd say that).

This could significant yet it could mean nothing- without knowing numbers it's incredibly difficult to say how the channel is doing. On the plus side they are picking up US cards but on the domestic front they really aren't doing the shows that they were at the beginning of the channel.

They probably have found the best formula for the channel now. Whether or not they are making any money is tricky to say- if pushed I'd say they were probably somewhere below break even at this point.

I wouldn't necessarily read too much in to it at this time.

The bloke in question has been head-hunted, and he has done what most of us would do and taken a similar (or better!) job for more money.

I read an interview with him in Boxing News a year or so a go and he has a track record of starting up channels (and if memory serves me they are usually sports ones).

He also has a proven track record of success.

Its easy to assume initially that it is a sign that it is because Boxnation is struggling, but ask yourself if it is doing so badly why would the guy at the helm be head-hunted by a very prominent sports channel with a huge budget and some very impressive airing rights?

I'm not saying that Boxnation is necessarily thriving, I'm just saying that his departure doesn't mean that they are about to go under!

This is obviously a step up, which suggests he was doing a good job at Boxnation.

Its not like he's left BoxNation to go to BT. You really think BoxNation was a fulltime gig for him? Look at his LinkedIN, he would have been doing way more for FA than he was at BoxNation. BoxNation was just one of pies he had fingers in, now its a conflict of interest cos he's of the full-time gig with another broadcast company.

No, it needs more terrestrial TV.

But like i have stated time and time again, the powers that be want boxing dead. The BBC are racist and discriminative against world class sports, and boxing is the only real working class sport left. Somehow and some way boxing needs some sort of a new terrestrial channel! some how box-nation could make more co-operate partnerships.

In my opinion boxing is the second biggest sport in Britain. No other sport but football, would be able to demand fans to pay to view, no other sports has that kind of loyal fan base. Tennis, Rugby, Golf if these sports where all forced to use mass amounts of subscription channels and pay per view events, they would be completely ****ed.

How long do you think it'll be until Sky bring us Premier League football on SBO (if ever)? If Sky did Liverpool Vs United on SBO would it sell better than say a Ricky Hatton fight of yesteryear?
