So Artur Beterbiev passed on Kovalev and not this guy is passing on Beterbiev...so everyone is just passing on everyone at 175?? So I guess we will be stuck with Kovalev fighting Pascal 4 more times while Stevenson fights his grandfather and Beterbiev fights the 15th contender...sad Hopkins tried to start a movement and it just fell off.atsch
Not surprised. Beterbiev at this stage brings no money and losing to him just puts the first nail in the coffin of your career. Losing to Kovalev - at least you get exposure and some decent 6 figure pay day money. Beterbiev is too dangerous at this point and a banana skin for anyone who wants to make a name.
The Main Events vs. PBC battle at 175 is more interesting than most of the actual bouts taking place.
BNL (Malawi) cites Yvon's interview with Journal de Montreal. http://timesmediamw.com/artur-beterbiev-snubs-isaac-chilemba/ Chilemba had consequently taken to twitter to rebuke such a claim. It appears that Yvon himself had only stated he 'heard' Beterbiev owned Chilemba in two. No point reading into it too much, the truth is ultimately uncertain.
That is an excellent point, but we did get Kov-Hopkins and Kov-Pascal recently so we shouldn't get too spoiled.
That means we could get a Fonfara-Chilemba fight which would be a really nice fight. That's unless Fonfara is able to go straight to a Stevenson fight which means it could be Chilemba- Alvarez, still a nice fight. With people passing up on facing Beterbiev for the IBF top spot that means it could end up being Sean Monaghan or Sullivan Barerra taking on Beterbiev.
Kovalev-Hopkins was almost a year ago, and Kovalev-Pascel was decent but still everyone knew Pascal was a limited fighter and wouldn't be much of a challenge.
