Which should mean more, a man with a tough chin with average skills or a man with a weak chin but with great skills, who would you consider the best?

    Chin.

As long as you have a Chin there is a chance you can win the fight. A guy with skills but a Glass Jaw has no shot once he gets hit with a good shot.

Look at a fighter like Tex Cobb for example. His skills were **** but he was always around in the late rounds and could win the fight if he could land especially if the other fighter was tired.

Look at Amir Khan. He has decent skills (to me he fights like a mini robot forwards and backwards and that is it) but no Chin and was blown out in 50 seconds by an unknown fighter.

    Chin>skills all day long.

not both either or. I ask this because there a lot of fighters that get by just because of there natural born tough chins and not buy there skills, it seems unfair in a way.

yes that great champion tex cobb,

and the well tested amir khan

my thoughts are on somone like terry norris...pretty poor chin, but immense bags of talent, able to beat the best is a hall of famer, top pound 4 pounder for 2 years. and possibly the best light middlewieght ever.

skills alone get the job done, chin is just an excuse to greatness.

marquez brothers both have great skills but kinda shakey chins. not as weak as what is specified in the thread, but still shows that skills can get you out of a tough situation. i.e. JMM against pacman and diaz or norris vs waters and brown II

If you have a good chin that is fine but when it comes to it, one was great cause of his chin while the other had to work hard to get those skills, which one should really get respect? To me, is the one who worked for it not the one that was born with it.

A good chin is the best gift of the two, to have from nature! skills is something you can always improve in time! A good example is Librado Andrade!

Both can take a fighter really far!
