After watching Hatton over the last few years it seems like his chin has gotten weaker and weaker. I remember watching Ricky fight Kostya Tszyu and thinking "wow this kid is going to be a force because he has endless stamina and a granite chin". He was taking huge shots from Kostya and never once got rattled. Now he is hit by Juan Lazcano and is rocked. Does a fighters Chin get worse once he is knocked out once?
I wish people would stop banging on about Hatton beating Kostya Tszyu, so he had one good performance, he was still sloppy in that fight and he hasn't done anything since. I don't think that chins get worse once they get knocked down, the same thing would have happened five years ago imo.
In Hattons defense.. I don't think any fighter 140lbs & down take's that punch. Maybe the loss of "hand eye" (Age) ability to avoid punches is the real cause. (That said...IMO Hatton was in the best shape, Dude just got caught with a perfect punch)
Hatton was a huge underdog and dominated that fight. Why would you not give him credit for that? Anyway, you missed the point entirely out of your apparent hatred for Hatton. He took HUGE shots in that fight from a very heavy handed fighter. He never once was shaken. Yet Mayweather and Lazcano hit him and he is stunned. it is just strange.
what happen's is when you get hit on the chin it shut's of your Consciousness and once you get shut of for the first time its easyer to get shut of again sometimes it can be fatale causing brain damage
Maybe it's time people start accepting the fact that the version of Tszyu Hatton beat had one arm and was way over the hill?
Chins get dented over time, case in point, Ricardo Mayorga. He had one of the best chins of the last twenty years at one point, but as soon as Trinindad knocked him out, he began to get stunned and rocked more often in fights.
Yes I do hate Hatton, but I have good reason for that.... he's ****. And IMO he did beat Tszyu easily, but watch the fight again, it's so sloppy, there was a decided lack of quality boxing in that fight. And I did answer the question, he would still have gone down from those shots that he took from pacman if it was five years ago. He walked straight in to the first and third ones, two cracking shots as well.
Yes it does when you come off of a knock out like the Mayweather fight which wasnt as bad as this fight, it does effect your chin, well your brain actually. The reason people are calling for Hatton to retire, well look at him laid out on the canvas like that, does that look healthy to you? its not, and the way he bounced his head on the canvas that does more damage IMO than the shot that sent him there, then figure he was dropped three times in the fight not very good at all He needs to retire.
