Can a fighter with a glass chin develop a good chin in any way shape of form, or will they always have a glass chin?

 

When will the next edition of Chin Talk Boxing be out?
I wish to hear from Bobby Davro, Philip Schofield and the Professer sooner rather than later. Also could it include a call in section?

Correct me if I'm wrong, my assessment is that Lennox Lewis and Juan Manuel Marquez has the same chin and punch resistance. However, Lewis has poor recuperative powers and that's the difference. JMM was able to get up and recuperate everytime. Am I correct with that assessment?

If I may answer the above question. Lennox Lewis' chin is an exception to the rule, in that at times it has appeared weak bordering on glass, when he was iced by single shots from Mccall and Rahman. However, in other fights we saw Lennox show a solid chin, such as against David Tua and Vitali Klitschko.

Marquez on the other hand, has been down more times than Elton John in a gang bang, yet he's never been stopped. Indeed you have to give credit to Marquez in this regard, as he took a lot of hard shots from a big puncher in Pacquiao, and managed to get up each time.

Recuperative powers are also a part of determining how good a fighters chin is. If you're getting hit, being rocked and losing your equilibrium then it doesn't matter how good your recuperative powers are. However, if you're chin is solid enough that you can take a good shot, then your recuperative powers come into play. Like Mayweather-Mosley, Marquez-Pacquiao. It was because Lennox couldn't take those shots in the first place that he got stopped, his recovery powers never came into play. It's because Marquez's chin was solid enough, that we saw his recovery powers help him.

If you got really fat, could that layer of fat help protect a glass chin?

 

In some cases yes.It would depend on the cellulite factor.As an example,when storing glasses for a move,don't wrap it in newspaper.If you want a true glass resistant shattering ,it must be cloaked in bubble wrap.

Absolutely, GJE. I would also point to the sport of MMA for more evidence on this topic. We know that most of them are complete Roid Freaks, and yet it is commonplace for said Roid Freaks to be dropped and even savagely KOed by Jabs. PEDs certainly aid fighters in numerous ways but they have no effect on Mandibular Fortitude.

 

1. If a fighter is getting stunned or dropped by bums and/or Feather Fisters in early fights, his management continues setting him up with complete jokes and guys who cannot punch whatsoever after the very early part of his career, and getting hurt by every power punch that lands flush are all solid indicators of a Fragile Glass Mandible.

2. No. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for a Glass Jaw. Also, once they crack, they don't come back. That is a Fact.

 

Stanky legs and/or chicken dances, I presume, especially against boxers who are not known as power punches are excellent indications!

That's what I was thinking. . . Once a chunk of glass is shattered into thousands, and thousands of fragments, it's impossible to repair. . . A boxer, however, can overcome this if they have other amazing physical attributes, coupled with smart matchmaking against feather-fisted opposition.
