The worrying thing about Dawson in the Johnson fight was that when he was clearly wobbled, he tried to fight his way out of trouble rather than clinching. If he did that against Calzaghe, he'd get KO'd.
hmmm, what about when hopkins got decked twice by some featherfisted bum called segundo whatever his name was you forgot that or what? fact is calzaghe got up way before the referee even started the count, secondly he wasnt rattled at all, and if you examine it properly you would see after popkins landed the shot he led in with his whole body forcing joe down to the floor. wake up man
basically gonig to echo the thoguhts of several others in this thread: Calzaghe got caught by a nice punch whilst slightly off balance and went down. He got back up straight away, clear headed with no shake in his legs. That's called a flash knockdown. What was more meaningful was that he adjusted and never got hit with the same punch again and won a close but clear decision against a spoiling fighter.
I wish someone had a 'quit-this-place' bet with you. Do you think that JC was hurt by the KD? His pride was dented but that was about it. It was a damn good shot that forced him backwards in a stooped position with Hopkins coming forward and forcing him back even further. Anyway, who won, ya damn hating idiot?
give it up man hops milked a low blow that did NOT look hard. i like how hops hit joe low a few times the same way and joe didnt crawl around on the canvas. also that low blow hops tried to sell and cortez told him to keep fighting p.s. i like hopkins a lot and i think joe won easy and hops did some award winning acting
He hasn't the capacity to give it up. He is possibly ESBs most pathetic poster, now that Tyson86 has gone! No, I take that back....Tyson86 was better.
That fake low blow was ****ing laughable. At least Cortez managed to grow a pair of ****ing balls and told him to keep on fighting.
atsch Rubbish! Eubank never knocked down Calzaghe. Calzaghe knocked Eubank down. For the record, Byron Mitchell and Kabary Salem had floored Calzaghe before Hopkins did. No one outside of the Sport and die hard fans would have heard of Dawson. We all know who Superman is. Thats why that fight will be made. I hope it's at 168lbs for the titles.
People should really understand the meaning of the the term 'china chin' before labeling fighters with it. It does not mean getting knocked down by a decent punch and getting back up virtually straight away and being unshaken!! It does mean being unable to take a decent punch, which either knocks them out cold or rocks them and turns their legs wobbly. Calzaghe has a granite chin.
Calzaghe hardly has a glass chin - it was a decent enough shot which put him down and he got up up straight away, and probably a bit pissed off with himself to get caught with the one punch he knew Hopkins had. His punch resistance probably wanes slightly with age but Kessler caught Calzaghe with great right hands and uppercuts and he stayed on his feet.
