Depends what you mean by "healthy". It will not kill you but brown rice is superior in the health department.
during the Russo-Japanese 1904 the japanese rations were stretched thin, using too much imported foods to compensate...so the japanese goverment released tracts of land which was reserved for growing royal white rice. white rice in these times were a slight extravigance (kinda like tea was) and hard to produce in quantity due to the non exsitence of ammonia. but due to these large paddy fields the amount was enough to feed the navy for a year or so. the rice was given to the elite. the commanders, captains, Lieutenants ect. what happend is that due to the lack of nutrition in white rice. most of the people in power on long naval voyages eating only rice...started to become sick and in some cases die to do malnutritian. moral of the story is that you can eat it...but it has to be with somthing far far far more nutritianal
