It's ironic how the stats play out Khan and Gatti almost identical but couldn't be further from the truth in terms of chins.

Arturo Gatti & Ricardo Mayorga were stopped by Oscar De La Hoya (who fought as low as 130lbs)

Prime Oscar De La Hoya couldn't stop smaller Pernell Whitaker or Hector Camacho

Being an exciting likable Champion like Arturo Gatti or Ricardo Mayorga, makes us find excuses for them...

Amir Khan & Arturo Gatti, are about the same level, because they are the same...Numbers don't have feelings

Another number, seen here is that Champions with KO loss ratio

Edwin Valero - Carlos Monzon (0% KO loss Ratio), this can be due to their bias in eliminating all threats (Genuine Threats & Non-Threats), especially Valero he perceived all opponents as the same threat, possibly treated people around him the same way, Monzon was more complex but the same 0 KO loss ratio.

Arturo Gatti on the other hand was a genuinely kinder person (he enjoyed giving a show for the fans in boxing), trusting people faster & he usually liked to react, rather than initiate attacks.

No. You are basically saying Whitaker had a better chin than Gatti, when in reality, Whitaker was a defensive genius, thus didn't get hit, thus not needing a chin of granite. Gatti was a face first warrior, Khan chin is glass.

Pernell Whitaker Chin is clearly > Gatti & Khan just like the stats show

Pernell Whitaker was caught clean by Felix Trinidad long right hands, the same Right hands would have stopped Gatti & Khan

Stats are cold facts (not warm memories/feelings). So pay attention to the numbers, because lots of very tough Journeymen got KTFO & we don't go out making excuses for them...Oh he got hit more!

    J. B. Williamson outclassed Prince Mama Mohammad for the WBC Cruiserweight belt

27.9% KO loss ratio, most of it was later in his career, including:
    • George Foreman 2.0
    • Undefeated Jimmy Thunder
    • Undefeated Henry Akinwande
    • Undefeated Kenny Keene
    • Prime 27-1 Peter McNeely
    • Prime 30-1 Peter McNeely

Interesting to see David Haye up there at #3
I remember the forum here when the fight against Wladimir was talked about, and a whole lot were claiming that he would beat him because Wlad had been down so many times in his career. Turned out percentage wise Haye himself had been down even more at the time, while having fought far lesser opposition up till then. When mentioned it was laughed away.

Still, they say numbers don't lie and they don't. But you can still draw the wrong conclusions from them non the less.
Gatti is above Khan, but Gatti traded blow for blow while Khan hits and runs. If Khan fought like Gatti, he would be up there at #1, or not even up there at all due to never even winning a belt. It's all relative.

Numbers, or rather out of context statistics, also don't tell you facts like Khan gets dropped and wobbled regularly from light hitters whereas Mayorga can eat leather for round after round. Do you have to keep embarrassing yourself like this Elretardo?

Genuine Iron Chins exist, they come with Elite level boxing. Hundreds of Journeymen with losing records are as tough as Ricardo Mayorga, catch 10-20 clean shots on their chin then get stopped, those boxers have a much higher KO loss %

This thread is not for tough-man shows, its based on straight forward KO loss %, zero personal input on my side....simply copying & pasting data, if you don't like solid date...This thread will not be any help...

If any ATG fought like Gatti, he will not be a Champion, let alone an ATG.

Arturo Gatti did it mostly for the fans, he loved entertaining & very few boxers are willing to do that...Although its a good idea for a declining boxer who still has power & pain tolerance to do that.

Watch Felix Trinidad vs Pernell Whitaker

Felix Trinidad was the only boxer to land clean shots vs Whitaker, clean full leverage Right hands. Whitaker was an iron chinned boxer when his chin got checked...it was done by the hardest hitter in his time

It wasn't a case of Roy Jones Jr super defense (that was protecting a vulnerable chin)

Mosely via 135 , De La Hoya via 130 KOed Ricardo Mayorga & that is where it ends (no excuse, other than good show by Ricardo Mayorga)
