most of it the result of being very popular with matchmakers at later stages of his career

Don King Matchmakers picked Frankie Randall for the 140 title fateful world title defense, he was handpicked because of his 2nd Round KO loss at 135 vs Primo Ramos (Mexican Contender), so at 140 lbs Frankie should have been an easy 1 Rd KO for JCC, the rest is history...

You don't necessarily have to be an elite level boxer to have an iron chin. It's just something, that some boxers are lucky to have - and has nothing to do with ability.

Lots of thick legged Stocky built Journeymen have "Iron Chins" that exceed that of world-elite boxers. Being conditioned to catch punches on your skull is not an asset & surely not good luck, those tough Iron-Chinned boxers rarely makes it into Elite-level boxing, mainly because they always lose decisions vs any good boxer who can use range & has stamina to go the distance

Iron Chinned boxers are more represented in the Journeymen category, those journeymen lose lots of decisions to Prospects. Elite level boxers Chins are rarely tested (due to being Elite) & can't be compared to the much-more proven Chins of Journeymen getting hit by Prospects a few divisions above their best weight.

This thread intent, is educational...Any hard-core fan of Iron Chins, will enjoy the un-televised Journeymen fights, lots of them are very hard unwinnable fights vs Taller Prospects, their Chin is usually better than any World Champion (if we judge them subjectively by the eye test, instead of conclusive results)
