Jeff Fenech all but lost his ability to take a punch as his career and his physical abilities eroded.
Ray Leonard, from taking shots at welter against a lethal puncher like Hearns and taking the beating of a lifetime for 15 rounds v Duran to being knocked out by Cmacho at light heavy, Hector did not have the KO ratio that Duran had when he fought Leonard in his prime and Hearns caught Ray with some rights that were far harder than the shots Camacho stopped him with or the shots Norris dropped him with 4 years prior to this bout.
Ricky Hatton. Was'nt the same after Luis Collazo had him all but knocked out in the final round on what was Hatton's first fight as a welter.
Tyson. Pre-prison the comment was 'hit Mike and U just make him mad.' Shots he took from Razor -kept on coming. Yet his losses are all KO/TKOs.
Disagree. No one ever one shot Tyson. Even shot to bits, he ate clean right hands from Lewis all night and Lewis couldn't get him out of there until the 8th.
True, he took some hellatious shots from Lennox...hadn't watched it all. But then again he has 5 KO losses out of 6 losses, one a DQ. You can say he just quit against Williams, McBride But how did he get dropped by them, or all those losses? By shots landed harder than Lewis? I dont think WIlliams or McBride hit him as hard as Lewis..so what cause him to drop..other than uh- cracked chin?
Older out of shape fighter naturally have overall less resistance, its not an issue of their chins being able to be cracked.
True for some. Guys like Randall Cobb, Jake Lamotta, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Mayweather didn't finish their careers with KO losses like Tyson and others named here. First to go is reflexes, they say the last to go is power. But for Ray Leonard getting dropped by Camacho or Tyson getting dropped by Williams or McBride....those fighters did drop them by shots they once ate like candy.
It depends on the circumstances as well. Some fighters don't get knocked out because they fight to survive. I'll say this about Mike Tyson, not once did I ever see him fight a survival fight, his radar was always on the knockout. .......then there are fighters like Mayweather who are very selective on who they fight and then ends his career fighting a complete novice who's never stepped in a boxing ring.
