Hey Joe, Quickhands, just saw this thread right now. Yeah that's what it was. I think I remember you are a fan of Fritzie's, Joe. He owned my dad's contract for the first half of his career, also Fritzie had known him since he was a boy. Fritzie trained at the Pittsburgh Lyceum and my father grew up literally on the same block of Washington Place.
How do you read up on it on Boxrec? Is there a link Quickhands? Thanks in advance! Always interested in this one Chinx!! Havent been on in a bit, how's it goin??
I'd like to know that too, T. I've found it hard to find info on him myself. Boxrec has his record which is pretty accurate, only off on a couple. What I do have are newspaper clippings from his career, five scrapbooks worth, a lot of write-ups on other fights of the day too. This content is protected This was the biggest fight of his career, with Laurent Dauthuille, April 1950 in Pittsburgh. Dauthuille went on to fight LaMotta for the title a few months later in Detroit, The Ring's fight of the year. This was the one that could have made him, could have taken him from also ran to the history books, but the biggest regret of his career was not this loss, but one that came a couple years earlier to fellow Pittsburgher Lee Sala, a local showdown at Forbes Field for top middleweight in town.
