Two inconsistent yet live underdogs when focused that can bring trouble to their opponents.
    Who you with?

Mercer ranks higher because he won a world title.
H2H Mercer in a great fight, probably on points, he’d be the far superior in the instances where it’s on the outside, which is where he may be able to steal rounds, even on the inside, then on the occasion where it’s on the outside, Mercer gets the better work off.

Mercer ranks higher he won a belt and was ranked in the top 10 unlike Chisora.

As for who would win in a H2H match up ? Mercer because he actually has a jab and doesn't just plod straight forward throwing wide hooks.

Mercer by some distance. Just because Chisora is tough, doesn't mean that he is good.

    Mercer is better historically.

H2H I think I will lean towards Chisora. Both these guys are bruisers with little defence but I think Chisora probably hits a bit harder. Rewatch that fight with Joyce if you have doubts. Both could be outboxed but I don't believe that anybody would be doing anything too cute in this one.

I think Mercer is better, straight up, and any good version of him should be able to win the fight handily.

Also, I do think that he's a bigger puncher than Chisora. Bobby Czyz, who faced Corrie Sanders, said that the hardest he ever had been hit was in a sparring match with Mercer. And then keeping in mind how Vitali reacted to both Sanders' and Chisora's power, I think it's safe to say that Mercer is likely the hardest puncher between them.

Bobby got totally embarrassed by Sanders. I’m sure it was an off night in his MENSA level brain.

Head to head it’s anybody’s fight but if we’re talking about rating on pure achievement then it’s Mercer. He left the game with a much better record and beat a few notables along the way.

I think that getting battered by someone that badly means you have more authority to talk about their power. The common thing to happen when boxers talk about encounters like that is for them to lean in favor of that fighter's strength, such as how Moorer has claimed that Tua hits harder than Foreman- But that's not what's happening here. I think that Czyz's word has truth to it.

Mercer didn’t publicly embarrass him so I’d take it with a grain of salt.

I feel like Chisora is getting massively overrated because he fought so many top guys and put up competitive losing efforts. Fighters avoiding each other means people are overappreciating someone like a Derek Chisora whose trying to constantly scale peaks he can't climb. I think Mercers overrated too theres people who think he'd beat Michael Moorer but Mercers a level above a Derek Chisora. Mercers sub .500 in his big fights but Chisoras in the .200 range.

Based on my arbitrary list of HW contenders which doesn't count a lot of the Vitali or Wilder/Joyce Chisoras under 20% against title contenders with wins over Pulev,Takam and Danny Williams.

IMO he’s getting overrated mostly because the current heavyweight era is a bit overrated in general, and he’s looked at as a good win for several of the top guys.

Hes not a top 10 guy in this era though never made Rings top 10. Those rankings aren't infalliable and while he probably should have made it at least once that would have been back during the Klitschko days like 15 years ago. When he was fighting Fury, Vitali and Haye. Wikipedia says boxerrec has had him top 10 since 2013 and he was 5th twice thats absurd tbh.

I feel like Usyk, Parker and likely Kabayels success is going to lead to history being revised in 20 years where hes seen as an elite guy. Assuming Kabayel becomes a champ every single one of his losses except Helenius comes against some sort of world title holder. Problem is theres 12 of those things in an era where the best guys retire with 5 losses or less. Theres eras were you can look past double digit losses this is not one of them.

Hes one of 15 Commonwealth/EBU double winners but hes probably like 13th out of that group same as his number of losses. He won those honors in 2010 and 2013 over a decade ago.

Mercer is leagues above Chisora, you can debate about wins, losses etc... but Mercer is so much more skilled that is not even a debate..
