Yeah I wouldn't mind that at all, the first fight Del boy got robbed, so would be good see him get revenge and retire.
Even if Chisora gets KO'd it's another rematch, another fight against a former Ring ranked opponent, probably another fight as the underdog, probably another war. Legacy-wise it's still a positive, for what the record is.
The perfect time for him to retire would have been after the Pulev win. Headlining, a win over a pretty credible opponent, family there to watch, and it was a pretty entertaining fight. I fear he wants to make it to 50 professional fights - Washington was number 47. I would quite like the Board to step in, but it wouldn't stop him. I'm sure the Saudi boxing federation would give him a licence indefinitely.
it was a terrible fight against pulev they were awful shot to pieces no technique no knockdowns holding all the time and he got gift im at stage where im happy for wife beater to keep fighting it means he gets punched more
I had Chisora losing less rounds to Washington than Wilder did. AJ won every round and KOed Helenius. Job done.
Not sure about both there Mitch. Joshua was very poor in many of the rounds and could have lost 3 rounds in that fight as these were very close. Chisora brought the phoney war to Washington and again there was not much in that fight and the outcome would have been the other way round in the USA.
I gave Helenius the first 2 rounds. Helenius definitely won round 1, but most people gave Joshua round 2. I scored Chisroa Washington 96-94 in favour of Chisora. Washington definitely didn't win though. Helenius would beat him if they fight on the Joshua vs Wilder card in Saudi next. Chisora took a lot of damage in the Fury fight in December - shame on them for making that fight because they had to fill the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a known opponent.
Yes, Chisora said on iFL after his fight that he wants 3 more to make it to 50. He really did look awful and old on Saturday. He didn’t even have his big first 1-2 rounds burst of energy anymore. Surely he’ll need to be moved down the card or fight on dodgy Saudi shows only going forward. I agree he should have retired after Pulev.
Yeah that beating he took from Fury has definitely left permanent damage. I also agree that Helenius beats him. Del boys overhand right is so painfully slow now I don't think it will catch anyone out. I get that he wants to make it to 50 fights, I just hope they are against soft touches. Chisora has nothing to prove now. He's fought them all.
I've seen the AJ vs Helenius fight again and I actually think it's one of Joshua's worst fights in his career. Have the many different trainers had a bad influence on AJ ?
Would love to see him get absolutely flattened by Wilder, a proper Berbick stagger show of a beating, that would be a fitting way for this tub of sh!t to bow out.
Think there is a huge problem with his mentality as his last 4 fights have shown he is more worried about being hit by opponents with far less power than him. We also look at his fantastic physique and think he should be blasting people away assuming his power is great. Pulev, Helenius and Hector Avilla types go down easily when hit but he has failed to make a dent in a number of fighters; Parker, Takam, Ruiz twice, Usyk twice and even Franklin. Great KO on Saturday but what if that was Joe Joyce in front of him jabbing his face off or Bakole throwing serious leather at him? Joshua was never the next Ali as claimed by Hearn and that is the problem - people cannot see that he is just a very good non elite British Fighter who took the belts from very weak Champions who won vacant titles. Expectations are very high and people are disappointed when he falls well short. Still had a great career and made a lot of money but at 34, I feel he should retire retaining his pride.
Even if that's true (and most observers, as well as the judges, don't agree), Chisora took a lot more damage from Washington, many thought he got dropped and he couldn't stop him over 10, whereas Wilder took some jabs, dropped and stopped Washington in 5. Chisora's was a far worse performance if we're being realistic, it was a war that added considerable wear. AJ lost the 1st round by popular consensus and many observers had him losing multiple rounds. He also got busted up over 7 rounds: nose bleeding and visible eye damage. This was by a 10/1 underdog Helenius who 10 months prior couldn't land headshots on Wilder (who was "moving too fast" by Helenius's own admission) and got sparked in 1. You certainly wouldn't gloss over these facts if the results were reversed, you'd be talking about how Wilder went "life and death" with Helenius and that this was proof that Joshua is a much higher level fighter. Where will Wilder and Joshua rank in your top 10 if Wilder KO's Joshua?
